WOMEN’S BASKETBALL RUNS AWAY IN SECOND HALF FOR 83-52 WIN OVER FRANKLIN PIERCE

Syracuse, N.Y. – Senior guard McKayla Roberts (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) recorded her sixth career double-double to lead the Le Moyne College women's basketball team to an 83-52 win over Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday evening at Ted Grant Court.

Roberts registered season-highs of 27 points (12 in the third quarter) and 10 assists for her first double-double of the season and fourth of her career of the points-assists variety, while adding four rebounds and two steals. She tied her and Jennifer Dennett's single-game program record for made three-pointers with seven. With her 14th point of the game (which came on her fifth three-pointer of the contest), she passed Anne Scheftic '92 for fourth place on the program's career scoring chart with her 1540th point. With her 15th minute played, Roberts passed Jennifer Feher '04 for the most minutes played in the program's history at 3604. With her seventh three-pointer of the night, she tied Bentley's Beth Biasotti (1992-96) for eighth in NE10 history with her 251st career trifecta.

Redshirt junior guard Liz Millea (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown) hit five three-pointers en route to 17 points, while adding five rebounds. Sophomore forward Jenna Zimmerman (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) tallied 16 points, including eight in the fourth quarter, seven rebounds and five assists. Junior forward Madison Shetrom (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) registered a career-best 11 points off the bench. The Dolphins finished the contest with a single-game program-record of 16 three-pointers, eclipsing the previous mark of 14 set at Assumption College on January 24, 2009.

Emma Carter led the Ravens offensively in the loss with 13 points, including six in the second quarter. Izzy Lipinski recorded a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds, while adding five assists.

The Ravens scored the first five points and seven of the first 10. Sophia Holmes scored just four seconds into the game and then Rylee Skinner drained a three-pointer. After Roberts hit her first three-pointer of the game, Lipinski scored her first points of the contest.

The Dolphins answered with six straight points and 12 of the next 16 to take control of the game. Millea and Zimmerman drained three-pointers for the lead before Carter tied the score for the final time with a jumper. Millea followed with another three-pointer and then Roberts drilled her second trifecta of the quarter.

Holmes made two free throws with less than one second left to get the Ravens within 15-13 after one quarter.

The Dolphins used an 18-8 run over the first seven and one-half minutes of the second quarter to open up a 12-point lead. Roberts scored six points in the span, Shetrom had four and four others combined for the other eight points.

Carter hit a pair of three-pointers around a Le Moyne basket over the final two minutes to get the Ravens within 35-27 at halftime.

After the Ravens scored four of the first six points of the third quarter, the Dolphins rattled off 12 straight points and 19 of the next 21. Roberts had nine of the first 12 points, while Millea and Shetrom each had five points in the streak.

Following a pair of three-pointers by the Ravens, Roberts drilled her third three-pointer of the quarter and seventh of the game and sophomore guard Erin Fouracre (Loudonville, N.Y./Colonie Central) closed out the quarter with a three-pointer for a 65-40 lead.

Le Moyne scored 16 of the first 22 points of the fourth quarter to take its largest lead of the game, 81-46, with 3:19 to play. Zimmerman scored eight of the points, Millea and Roberts each had three and Shetrom made two free throws.

Franklin Pierce got within the final margin with six of the last eight points.

Le Moyne (9-6, 5-3 NE10) returns to action on Saturday at Southern New Hampshire University at 1:30 p.m.
