SWIMMING AND DIVING TEAMS SPLIT WITH CORTLAND

Cortland, N.Y. – Seniors Matthew Walton (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) and Michael Dierolf (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown) each won two individual events and teamed on a relay victory to lead the Le Moyne College men's swimming and diving team to a 153-141 victory over SUNY Cortland on Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons were victorious on the women's side, 165-124.

The quartet of Walton, Dierolf, sophomore Brandon Bardin (Burnt Hills, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and freshman Charles Morris (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) won the meet-opening 200-yard medley relay by just 0.11 seconds with a time of 1:39.79.

Dierolf collected the team's first individual victory in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.60 to top the field by almost three seconds. He completed the sweep of the breaststroke events with a time of 2:14.03 in the 200-yard to win by over 6.8 seconds.

Junior Austin Richardson (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) claimed the 200-yard butterfly by 2.41 seconds with a time of 2:04.56.

Walton touched the wall first in the 50-yard freestyle in 22.57 seconds to win by just 0.25 seconds. He was victorious in the 200-yard IM by 3.3 seconds with a time of 2:01.66.

Morris collected the victory in the 100-yard freestyle by 0.14 seconds with a time of 49.10 seconds.

Bardin topped the field in the 100-yard butterfly by 0.79 seconds with a time of 56.43 seconds.

The Dolphins won the meet by winning the meet-ending 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:28.72.

The women's team's first win came from senior Haley Decker (Vernon, N.Y./Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) in the 200-yard freestyle, where she won by almost four seconds with a time of 2:01.67. She later won the 100-yard freestyle by just over one second with a time of 56.56 seconds.

Freshman Genevieve Kikukawa (Kalaupapa, Hawaii / University Laboratory School) was victorious in the 100-yard backstroke by 0.54 seconds by touching the wall in 1:03.53.

Junior Haley Synan (Belchertown, Mass./Belchertown) won the 200-yard butterfly by just 0.63 seconds with a time of 2:13.12. She claimed the 200-yard IM by just 0.47 seconds with a time of 2:18.47.
 
Freshman Annamarie Goosley (Harpursville, N.Y. / Harpursville) collected first-place points in the three-meter diving event with a score of 137.00.

The Dolphins earned first-place points in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:46.83.
 
The Dolphins are in action again at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships, which start on Thursday, February 6 at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
