ROBERTS BECOMES WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PROGRAM’S ALL-TIME LEADING SCORER IN 63-54 WIN AT ASSUMPTION

Worcester, Mass. – Senior guard McKayla Roberts (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) became the program's all-time leading scorer as the Le Moyne College women's basketball team used a late run to defeat Assumption College, 63-54, on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Laska Gymnasium.

With her sixth and seventh of 22 points in the game, Roberts passed Jennifer Shea '89 for the most points in the program's history with her 1677th and 1678th points, eclipsing Shea's 1676. Roberts nailed four three-pointers in the contest, a number she's reached in six straight games, to move into a tie with American International's Megan Ladley '05 for the most in the history of the Northeast-10 Conference at 277. Sophomore forward Jenna Zimmerman (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) finished one point shy of her career high with 20 points, including 14 in the second half on 5-of-5 shooting from the field, while adding four rebounds and three blocks. Senior forward Colleen Corcoran (Beverly, Mass./Bishop Fenwick) tallied a career-high 13 rebounds, including six in the first quarter.

Emme Poulin led three Greyhounds in double figures with 13 points. Brianna Capacchione and Temi Falayi each scored 10 points, while Falayi pulled down nine rebounds.

Assumption scored the first six points of the game and nine of the initial 11 over 3:35. Poulin and Capacchione each drained three-pointers in the first minute.

The Dolphins, specifically Corcoran and Roberts, answered with a 15-7 run to close out the quarter. Corcoran had a conventional three-point play, Roberts followed with a three-pointer and her record-breaking lay-up, Corcoran added another lay-up, Roberts made two free throws and then drilled a three-pointer with four seconds left for a 17-16 lead.

After sophomore guard Erin Fouracre (Loudonville, N.Y./Colonie Central) recorded a three-point play to give the Dolphins a 22-19 lead, Assumption scored the next five points for a 24-22 lead with 4:40 remaining in the half.

The Dolphins answered with the last 11 points of the period to take a 33-24 lead into the intermission. Redshirt junior guard Liz Millea (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown) started the run with a lay-up, Zimmerman buried a three-pointer two minutes later, Millea hit one of her own with 1:35 left and then Zimmerman connected on a trifecta at the buzzer for the nine-point advantage.

After Falayi and Millea traded lay-ups over the next two and one-half minutes, resulting in a 40-28 lead, the Greyhounds closed out the quarter with 15 of the last 21 points to get within three. Falayi and Capacchione each scored four of the points, while three others combined for the other seven points.
