WOMEN’S BASKETBAL ROLLS TO 73-44 WIN AT AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL

Springfield, Mass. – Forwards Colleen Corcoran (Beverly, Mass./Bishop Fenwick) and Jenna Zimmerman (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) combined for 37 points to lead the Le Moyne College women's basketball team to a 73-44 win over American International College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Wednesday night at Butova Gymnasium.

Corcoran led all scorers in the game with 19 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter, while grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out four assists. Zimmerman posted 18 points, including 11 in the second quarter, and nine rebounds. Redshirt junior guard Liz Millea (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown) tallied seven of her 14 points in the fourth quarter, while senior guard McKayla Roberts (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) had 13 points and six assists. With her sixth helper of the contest, Roberts passed Southern New Hampshire University's Christine Duffy '12 for seventh on the Northeast-10's all-time assists list with her 610th.
 
Destine Perry led the Yellow Jackets in the loss with 14 points, including 12 in the second quarter, and five rebounds. Asia Turner was the only other player in double digits with 10, all of which came in the third quarter.

The Dolphins scored the first four points of the game and 17 of the initial 22. Millea had seven of the points, Zimmerman had six two others combined for the other four points.

The Yellow Jackets scored the final three points of the quarter to pull within 17-8.

After Perry started the scoring in the second quarter, the Dolphins rattled off 20 of the next 22 points to take their first 25-point lead of the game. Zimmerman scored seven points in the stretch, Millea had five, Roberts and junior forward Madison Shetrom (Altoona, Pa./Altoona) each hit three-pointers and Corcoran made two free throws.

AIC outscored the Dolphins 9-6 over the final 2:51 of the half to get within 43-21.

The teams split the first 24 points of the third quarter before the Yellow Jackets scored the final four to get within 55-37 after 30 minutes of action.

The Yellow Jackets got within 58-41 with 5:23 left, but the Dolphins scored nine straight points and 15 of the next 17 points to take their first 30-point lead of the contest. Corcoran had 11 of the 15 points in the span.

Le Moyne (17-8, 13-5 NE10), which finished the road portion of its NE10 schedule at 7-3, closes out the regular season on Tuesday against Pace University at 5:00 p.m. The Dolphins will claim the Southwest Division's second seed with a win, while a loss would result in the second, third or fourth seed depending on the results for Pace (vs. American International) and New Haven (vs. Adelphi) on Saturday.
