Syracuse, N.Y. – Le Moyne College head basketball coach
Nate Champion '14 announced on Thursday afternoon that 11 student-athletes have signed Letters of Intent to attend Le Moyne and play for the Dolphins in 2020-21. The class consists of six incoming freshmen: guards
Tucker Charles (Oakland, Maine/Messalonske),
Kevin Constant (Lawrence, Mass./Central Catholic/Tilton School) and
Jack Poirier (Scituate, Mass./Scituate), wing
Christian Davis (Denver, Colo./Mullen/New Hampton School) and forwards
Isaiah Elmore (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Catholic) and
Declan Nugent (Reading, Mass./Berwick Academy (Maine)).
The 20-21 class also features five transfer student-athletes who will join the Dolphins squad. The transfers are guards
Payton Hudson (Yonkers, N.Y./Our Savior Lutheran/Iona/Independence C.C.) and
Kailleb Walton-Blanden (Rapid City, S.D./Rapid City Central/State Fair C.C.) and forwards
Marlon Adams (Brooklyn, N.Y./Believe Prep Academy/Eastern Kentucky/Gulf Coast State/Maryland Eastern Shore),
Gabriel Divic (Beravci, Croatia/Centre for Distance Education Zagreb/Harding) and
Nicholas Johnson (Silver Spring, Md./John F. Kennedy/Montgomery College).
Tucker Charles – G - Oakland, Maine – Messalonske
Charles joins the Dolphins bringing a lot of leadership experience with being named the class President of his 2020 high school class. The 6-foot guard finished his career averaging over 13 points, three rebounds and three assists per game. Charles was a National Honor Society member and finished in the top 7% of his class with a 4.1 GPA.
Champion on Charles… "Tucker is an extremely talented kid. Coming from Maine, he has great entrepreneurial skills and is very skilled both in the classroom and on the court. He brings a maturity and a great work ethic to our team. He is very disciplined and is going to improve tremendously on the court. I am looking forward to watching Tucker achieve great things during his time at Le Moyne."
Kevin Constant – G – Lawrence, Mass. – Central Catholic/Tilton School
Constant comes to Le Moyne after playing a prep school year at Tilton School (Tilton, N.H.) under head coach Marcus O'Neil. The 6'1" guard was ranked #16 in the state of New Hampshire's 2020 class. The Lawrence native averaged 14.6 points, five assists and five rebounds and was named All-NEPSAC Honorable Mention in Class AA. Before attending Tilton, Constant played at Central Catholic High, where he received numerous awards, including Merrimack Valley Conference MVP,
Boston Globe Player of the Year and
USA Today First Team.
Champion on Constant… "Kevin brings athleticism and length along with a winning mentality to our program. Coming from Lawrence, Mass., Kevin will add great depth to our guard position. Kevin has such a bright future and we couldn't be happier to have him with us for the next four years. Kevin has the ability to be a difference maker on the floor and in the community."
Jack Poirier – G – Scituate, Mass. – Scituate
Poirier comes to the Heights after recently being named
The Patriot Ledger All-Scholastic Player of the Year. Poirier finished his career at Scituate scoring 1,569 points, which ranks third in school history. His senior season, Poirier averaged 19 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals, which helped lead Scituate to a 21-3 record. Poirier is also a three-year captain, a three-time Patriot League Fisher Division All-Star and a three-time
Patriot Ledger All-Scholastic.
Champion on Poirier… "Jack is a sharp shooter from Boston who is used to playing in a fast-paced system. He is very smart on the court and in the classroom. Jack will be a serious threat from the outside and has a great basketball IQ. I am looking forward to having Jack on the Heights."
Christian Davis – Wing – Denver, Colo. – Mullen/New Hampton School
Davis comes to Le Moyne after playing a prep year at New Hampton School (New Hampton, N.H.). Davis finished the year being ranked number 25 in the state of New Hampshire's 2020 class. The 6'4" wing finished his prep year averaging 11 points, three rebounds and one assist and also shot an astounding 43% from the 3-point line. Davis was named NEPSAC Honorable Mention in Class AAA.
Champion on Davis… "Christian may be the most underrated player on our roster. Coming from Denver and New Hampton, he is a great threat from the outside. He brings length and versatility to our wing position and has a very high ceiling. I can't wait to see all the things that he does in our program and on campus."
Isaiah Elmore – F – Tampa, Fla. – Tampa Catholic
Elmore joins the Dolphins from recent Florida powerhouse, Tampa Catholic. Elmore helped lead the team to a Florida State runner-up finish his senior season. In the championship game, he held down the paint recording five blocks. The 6'8" big man averaged seven points and seven rebounds. He held down the defensive side of the ball averaging two blocks per game.
Champion on Elmore… "Isaiah is joining us from the Sunshine State and is going to add great depth to our forward position. Isaiah is very good on the defensive end and is only scratching the surface of where he will eventually be offensively. He has a tremendous ceiling and brings a great attitude to our team. I am looking forward to getting to work with Isaiah."
Declan Nugent – F – Reading, Mass. – Berwick Academy (Maine)
Nugent comes to The Heights after finishing up his senior season at Berwick Academy (South Berwick, Maine), where he was ranked the number 14 player in the state of Maine. The 6'5" wing/forward ended the year averaging 15 points, seven rebounds and three blocks. Nugent was also named Honorable Mention All-NEPSAC Class C last season.
Champion on Nugent… "Declan is a very bright and talented young man. He has a great family athletic background and is a very underrated played coming out of high school. Declan is a very versatile player who has a high ceiling. He is going to add to our depth in the wing/forward positions and is going to give us some great versatility."
Payton Hudson – G – Yonkers, N.Y. – Our Saviour Lutheran/Iona/Independence C.C.
Hudson joins the 'Phins as a junior after playing a year at Independence C.C. (Independence, Kansas), where he appeared in 29 games, averaging four points and shooting 38% from the 3-point line. Hudson was a key contributor in leading the Pirates to a 23-9 record this past season.
Champion on Hudson… "Payton will be a great addition to our team, bringing experience and versatility to our guard position. He is a knockdown shooter and he is always in the gym. I'm excited to get to work with Payton for the next two years!"
Kailleb Walton-Blanden – G – Rapid City, S.D. – Rapid City Central/Gillette/State Fair C.C.
Walton-Blanden comes to Le Moyne as a junior after playing a season at State Fair C.C. (Sedalia, Missouri), where he appeared in all 30 games. Walton-Blanden started 27 of 30 games for SFCC and helped the Roadrunners to a 16-14 record and an appearance in the Region 16 Tournament Semifinal. During his time at State Fair, he averaged 13 points, three rebounds and three assists. Walton-Blanden finished the season second on the team in points, assists and steals.
Champion on Walton-Blanden… "Kailleb brings great experience to our team along with a winning mentality. I am looking forward to seeing just how much Kailleb can achieve in the next two years. He brings versatility to our guard position with tremendous quickness and athleticism on the defensive end as well as the ability to score the ball. He is a great addition to our team and the Le Moyne College community."
Marlon Adams – F – Brooklyn, N.Y. – The King's Academy/Believe Prep Academy/Eastern Kentucky/Gulf Coast State/Maryland Eastern Shore),
Adams joins the squad as a graduate student after playing last season at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Adams finished the season averaging three points and three rebounds. Adams played in 22 games with his lone start of the season coming on Dec. 29 at Virginia Tech. Adams scored a career-high 10 points on March 10 against Delaware State in the MEAC Tournament. He was also a member of Hawks' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Champion on Adams… "I am really looking forward to having Marlon for his last year. Marlon brings toughness and a wealth of experience to our team. He has played very meaningful minutes at a high level. He is a versatile player, who we will be able to use in many different ways. Marlon is not only a good player, but an even better person."
Gabriel Divic – F – Beravaci, Croatia – Centre for Distance Education Zagreb/Harding
Divic joins Le Moyne as a junior after playing the last two seasons at Division II Harding University (Searcy, Arkansas). In his two years at Harding, Divic averaged nine points and three rebounds. Before Harding, the 6'7" forward was the leading scorer in the Croatian U16 League in 2015, averaging 25 points. He was then one of the top three scorers in the Croatian U18 League in 2016, 2017 and 2018, averaging over 18 points. He won a bronze medal with BC Cibona at the 2017 Croatian U18 Championship.
Champion on Divic… "Gabe is a sharp shooter with size. I am looking forward to having Gabe here at Le Moyne as I think he is going to grow tremendously on the court, but also in the Le Moyne community. Gabe is going to give us versatility in our forward position and he is just scratching the surface of where he will be when he graduates."
Nicholas Johnson – F – Silver Spring, Md. – John F. Kennedy/Frostburg St./Montgomery College
Johnson, a junior in 2020-21, comes to the Heights after playing last season at Montgomery College (Rockville, Md.). Johnson finished the season averaging 14 points, six rebounds and two blocks. Johnson was second on the team in rebounds, led the team in blocks and was a key contributor to leading the team to a 20-9 record on the year. He scored a season-high 29 points against Raritan Valley Community College on November 2nd.
Champion on Johnson… "Nick brings versatility, toughness and athleticism along with a hard-working mentality to our team. Nick will be a very versatile player in our system. He will also bring some intensity and toughness on the defensive end. I can't wait to watch Nick grow on and off the court the next two years!"
The Dolphins return four letterwinners (one starter) from last year's 19-9 squad which won its fourth consecutive Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division title, becoming the first NE10 program to win four straight division titles. Additionally, the Dolphins were selected to their program-record fourth consecutive NCAA Championships berth before the NCAA canceled all championship events due to COVID-19.
