AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL REGISTERS 3-0 WIN OVER VOLLEYBALL

Syracuse, N.Y. – Ulrika Blomgren narrowly missed a double-double to lead American International College to a 3-0 win over the Le Moyne College volleyball team in Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday night at Ted Grant Court.

After the Dolphins scored the first point of the match, the Yellow Jackets tallied 13 of the next 16 points. Le Moyne answered with a 6-3 run to cut its deficit to six. AIC countered with a 7-1 run to take its largest lead of the set. Le Moyne stayed alive with four consecutive points, but AIC scored the last two to close out the set, 25-15.

After AIC scored the first two points of the second set, the Dolphins scored four straight and six of the next seven for a 6-3 lead. The Yellow Jackets answered back with a 3-1 spurt to knot the score at seven. Following ties at 10, 11 and 13, the Dolphins scored three straight points to regain a three-point edge. AIC countered with a 7-2 jaunt to take a two-point edge. After the Dolphins evened the set at 21, the Yellow Jackets scored the last four points for a 25-21 win.

AIC scored the first five points of the third set and 14 of the first 16. After the Dolphins scored two of the next three points, the Yellow Jackets responded with nine of the next 11 points for a 24-6 lead. The Dolphins stayed alive with the next three points, but the Yellow Jackets landed a kill for a 25-9 victory.

Redshirt freshman outside hitter Maethavee Siphakongviseth (Rochester, N.Y./Gates-Chili) led the Dolphins with six kills and nine digs. Graduate student setter Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) recorded a double-double with 16 assists and a team-high 11 digs, while adding five kills.

Blomgren hit .381 en route to nine kills, while registering a match-high 14 digs and two service aces. Amber Williams tallied nine kills on a .438 hitting percentage. Naomi Eckert directed the offense with 36 assists and added seven digs. Andrea Serra turned in 12 digs and six kills, while Amanda Rodriguez posted 10 digs.

Le Moyne (3-13, 1-7 NE10) is back on the court on Friday against Southern New Hampshire University at 7:00 p.m.
