ITHACA SWEEPS SWIMMING AND DIVING TEAMS

Ithaca, N.Y. – Ithaca College recorded a sweep of the Le Moyne College men's and women's swimming and diving teams on Friday evening at Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium. The Bombers won the men's side, 231-67, and the women's, 210-88.

Redshirt freshman Grace Thomas (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) earned the first win of the night by topping the field in the 100-yard backstroke by over 1.25 seconds with a time of 1:01.21. She completed the sweep of the backstroke events by winning the 200-yard backstroke by over 2.5 seconds with a career-best time of 2:12.63.

Junior Caitlyn Longway (Sauquoit, N.Y./Sauquoit Valley) registered a time of 24.56 seconds, the best in the Northeast-10 Conference this year, to win the 50-yard freestyle by 0.39 seconds. She later won the 100-yard freestyle by 0.30 seconds with a time of 54.23 seconds, the best in the NE10 this year.

Senior Mikael Ann Melfi (Clayton, N.Y./Thousand Islands) finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke in a season-best 1:11.49.

Redshirt freshman Veronika Nelson (Vernon Center, N.Y./Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) placed second in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:24.84.

Freshman Hannah Kellogg (Cazenovia, N.Y./Chittenango) finished second in the 500-yard freestyle in a season-best 5:26.61.
 
Junior Joseph Malone (Merrick, N.Y./Wellington C. Mepham/SUNY Old Westbury) placed second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:30.98.

Freshman Belal Hamad (Syracuse, N.Y./PSAL at Fowler) finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:47.70. He also placed second in the 500-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 5:02.40.

Junior Charles Morris (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) posted a season-best time of 21.76 seconds to place second in the 50-yard freestyle. He also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle in a season-best 48.11 seconds. He added a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly in a season-best 55.52 seconds.
 
Freshman Justin Byrne (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) placed second in the one-meter diving event with 237.65 points.

The Dolphins are back in the pool on Saturday, November 20 at The College of Saint Rose at the Siena Swim Center in Loudonville, N.Y.
