Canton, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's and women's indoor track and field teams opened the season with five school records en route to each team placing fourth at St. Lawrence University's Saints Holiday Relays on Saturday at Newell Field House.
"It was great to be back at an indoor track meet after over 20 months away from it," said head coach
Robin Wheeless. "Our women's team set four school records.
Madison Kozyra set the shot and weight throw records.
Shaina Smith set the 60-meter hurdles record and our sprint medley relay set a record.
Kenny Barrett won the 600 in a meet and facility record time. Freshman
Natalie Lavello won the 60-meter dash and freshman
Dominic Abbott set a school record in the 60. We saw a lot of good things today and while our team is on a break during finals we are looking forward to more highlights come January.
The host Saints won the women's team competition with 163 points, while Plattsburgh State was second with 124 points. The Dolphins tallied 67 points to place fourth.
Utica College won the men's competition with 173 points, while the Saints tallied 127. The Dolphins registered 70 points to finish fourth.
Redshirt freshman
Madison Kozyra (Marcy, N.Y./Whitesboro) won the shot put by over three feet with a school-record distance of 40-feet, 5.5-inches. She placed fourth in the weight throw with a school-record mark of 41-feet, 10.75-inches.

Cleo Baker (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) opened the meet by placing second in the sprint medley relay with a program-record time of 4:37.68.

Brianna Simon (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus), redshirt freshman
Grace Kitterman (Farmington, N.Y./Victor) and junior
Shaina Smith (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) placed second in the 4x200-meter relay in 1:56.27.
DiFelice, freshman
Delaney Manahan (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus), Durant and Baker finished second in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:39.71.
Lavello won the 60-meter dash in 8.29 seconds.
Smith registered a school-record time of 9.92 seconds to place second in the 60-meter hurdles.
Simon placed second in the 60-meter dash in 8.49 seconds.
DiFelice earned two points by placing fifth in the 300-meter dash in 46.32 seconds.
Durant picked up one point in the 300-meter dash by placing sixth in 46.78 seconds.
On the men's side, junior
Nicholas Hafner (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg),
David Ware (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/St. John Fisher), junior
Christian Carlin-Saracene (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) and senior
Kenny Barrett (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Lady of Lourdes) won the 4x400-meter relay by over three seconds with a time of 3:39.71.
Barrett was victorious in the 600-meter run in a meet-record and facility-record time of 1:25.05.
The Dolphins claimed the top three spots in the 500-meter run. Ware finished first in 1:11.83,
Kyle VanCoughnett (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Arlington) was second in 1:11.85 and senior
Paul Stannard (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) was third in 1:15.71.
Hafner finished second in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.11 seconds.
Freshman
Dominic Abbott (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) registered a school-record time of 7.25 seconds in the 60-meter dash to place third. He also finished third in the 300-meter dash in 37.58 seconds.
Carlin-Saracene placed fifth in the 600-meter run in 1:28.30.
Freshman
Brandon Scott (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) earned two points by placing fifth in the 300-meter dash in 38.66 seconds.
Junior
Max Serling (Rochester, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) finished sixth in the 3000-meter run in 10:06.19.
The Dolphins return to action on Saturday, January 8 at Cornell University's Southern Tier Invite.
