MEN’S TENNIS OPENS SEASON WITH 7-0 VICTORY OVER ADELPHI

DeWitt, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team opened the season with a 7-0 victory over Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Elevate Fitness.
 
The Dolphins collected the first point of the match by winning the doubles competition. At the first position, senior brothers Jared Howard (Malmesbury, South Africa/Homeschooled/ASA College) and James Howard (Malmesbury, South Africa/Homeschooled/ASA College) defeated Gabriel Balestero and Valentin Le Goupil-Maier, 6-2. 3. Senior Tom Jarry (Paris, France/CNED Toulouse/Emmanuel) and sophomore Erik Adler (Lima, Peru/Santa Maria College) claimed the victory at the third spot, 6-1, over Luke Attride-Stirling and Henrique Souza.
 
Le Moyne, which was picked second in the NE10 preseason coaches' poll, swept the singles competition to close out the victory. Jared Howard improved to 6-0 as a Dolphin with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) win at the top spot over Balestero. Jarry collected his 17th win by downing Pietro Sole at the second position, 6-2, 6-3. James Howard was victorious at the third spot over Attride-Stirling with back-to-back scores of 6-1. Sophomore Felipe Cruz (San Jose, Costa Rica/Blue Valley School/Saint Louis University) earned the win in his Dolphin debut, 6-3, 7-6 (10-8), over Le Goupil-Maier at the fourth position. Sophomore Kacper Piekarek (Wroclaw, Poland/Autorskrie Licea Artystyczne Akademickie/Missouri-Kansas City) was a 7-5, 6-4 winner at the fifth spot over Salomon Arce Lema in his debut in the green and gold. Adler closed out the win, 8-5, over Souza at the sixth position.

Le Moyne (1-0, 1-0 NE10), which won its DII opener for the fourth straight year, hits the road for the first time in 2021 on Saturday at Stonehill College at 2:00 p.m.
