Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team registered its fourth straight shutout with a 7-0 victory over Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Nottingham High School.
The Dolphins won the doubles competition for the sixth consecutive match. Seniors
Jared Howard (Malmesbury, South Africa/Homeschooled/ASA College) and
James Howard (Malmesbury, South Africa/Homeschooled/ASA College) improved to 5-0 as a tandem with a 6-0 victory over Pietro Sole and Salomon Arce Lema at the second position. Sophomores
Erik Adler (Lima, Peru/Santa Maria College) and
Ethan Miller (Swindon, England/Cirencetser Kingshill School) turned in a 6-3 win at the third spot over Luke Attride-Stirling and Andrew Ray. Gabriel Balestero and Valentin Le Goupil-Maier claimed the win at the first position for the Panthers over fifth year
Philip Blythe (Edinburgh, Scotland/Merchiston) and senior
Tom Jarry (Paris, France/CNED Toulouse/Emmanuel), 6-4.
In the singles competition, the Dolphins posted a sweep for the fifth time in six matches.
Jared Howard remained unbeaten as a Dolphin with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Balestero at the first position. Blythe earned his 45th career win, 7-5, 6-7 (3-7), 10-2, over Sole at the second spot. Jarry was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at the third position over Attride-Stirling.
James Howard defeated Le Goupil-Maier by retirement at the fourth spot after leading 6-1, 3-0. Sophomore
Kacper Piekarek (Wroclaw, Poland/Autorskrie Licea Artystyczne Akademickie/Missouri-Kansas City) improved to 6-0 with consecutive scores of 6-3 against Arce Lema at the fifth position. Sophomore
Felipe Cruz (San Jose, Costa Rica/Blue Valley School/Saint Louis) completed the sweep with back-to-back scores of 6-1 at the sixth spot over Henrique Souza.
Le Moyne (6-0, 6-0 NE10), which is the only unbeaten team in the NE10, concludes the road portion of its schedule on Tuesday at Bentley University at 3:00 p.m.
