Jake Nelson (Charlotte, N.C./Vestal (N.Y.)/Binghamton/Mercer/Syracuse) scored with 47 seconds left in overtime to give the top-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team an 11-10 overtime win over Bentley University on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Bentley Field.
The Dolphins opened the scoring with the first three goals. Just 35 seconds into the game, graduate student midfielder
Ross Filtch (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus/Siena) scored the first goal, his 10th of the season. Senior midfielder
Evan Kelly (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Aquinas Institute) made it 2-0 at the 12:23 mark with seventh of the year off a feed from Nelson. Senior midfielder
Ben McCreary (Cicero, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy (Syracuse)) followed 54 seconds later with his team-best 13th tally of the campaign for a three-goal advantage.
Bentley answered back with the final two goals of the quarter. Ben Baldasaro got the Falcons on the scoreboard at the 8:10 mark with his 14th goal of the season. Ryan Birch followed with his fifth of the year with 2:57 remaining.
The Falcons kept their run going in the second quarter. At the 11:32 mark, Kristopher Campbell netted his 15th goal of the season off a pass from Conor Segreti. Joey Tesoriero put Bentley in front with 10:07 left with his 13th tally of the year.

Seth Benedict (Stanley, N.Y./Marcus Whitman) registered his second goal of the season with 2:20 left in the half off a feed from Kelly. Senior short-stick defensive midfielder
Casey Nevins (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) put the Dolphins back in front just 16 seconds later with his third tally of the campaign.
Bentley answered back with two goals in the last 75 seconds to take a 6-5 lead into halftime. Just 50 seconds after Le Moyne took the lead back, the knotted the score again on Birch's sixth goal of the year. Dominick Cioffi gave his team the lead with just 6.4 seconds to go after taking a pass from Birch.
The Dolphins recorded the only three goals of the third quarter to regain the lead. Off a feed from Filtch, junior attackman
Kevin Sheehan (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) netted his 11th goal of the season at the 12:38 mark to tie the score. Filtch then scored with 9:51 left to put the Dolphins in front. Freshman attackman
Preston Taylor (Liverpool, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy (Syracuse)) made it a two-goal game with 3:20 left off a pass from senior attackman
Devin Andrews (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy/Stony Brook).
Baldasaro got the Falcons within a goal just 46 seconds into the fourth quarter.
Le Moyne took its second three-goal lead of the game with the next two tallies. Kelly scored unassisted with 13:36 left and then fed Taylor with 11:57 to play in regulation.
Bentley responded with three straight goals to tie the score at 10 apiece. Tesoriero started the comeback by finishing off a pass from Birch with 7:46 remaining. Just 45 seconds later, Clay Moseman found the back of the net off a dish from Campbell, who then knotted the score with 4:56 left after collecting a pass from Birch.
Bentley had three possessions the remainder of the game, but committed turnovers on the first two and had a shot go wide at the buzzer. Le Moyne had three shots over its two possessions with the first being saved and the last two going wide.
The Falcons had the first possession of overtime and got off two shots, but the first went wide and the second hit the post and was recovered by the Dolphins.
Le Moyne had its first shot of overtime saved, but retained possession due to a penalty on the Falcons. Following three errant shots by the Dolphins around a timeout, Nelson came around the right side of the cage and fired in his 12th goal of the year with 47 ticks left.
Redshirt junior goalkeeper
Frank Delia (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker/Onondaga C.C.), who made his first start as a Dolphin, tallied 11 saves, including six in the second quarter, to earn his second win of the season. Keaton Roarick turned away 20 shots, including seven in the third quarter and six in the fourth quarter, in the loss.
Le Moyne (8-0, 7-0 NE10), which has played back-to-back overtime games for the first time since the 1994 season, wraps up the regular season on Wednesday against The College of Saint Rose at 3:00 p.m. Prior to the game, the graduate students and senior class will be honored by the Dolphin Athletic Association for their contributions to the program.
