Syracuse, N.Y. – Senior attacker
Erin McMullen (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) recorded six points and 11 draw controls to lead the third-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 14-8 victory over American International College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.
The Dolphins tallied the first two goals of the game. Senior midfielder
Sydney Meagher (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) converted a free-position shot with 26:05 left to get the scoring started. Just under eight minutes later, she fed junior attacker
Jessica Meneilly (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) for her ninth tally of the campaign.
The Yellow Jackets cut their deficit in half 32 seconds later as Anevay Rice scored her fifth goal of the season in an extra-player situation.
McMullen scored her first goal of the day another 31 seconds later off a free-position shot, but Sam Giordano answered with a free-position goal with 16:16 left to make it a one-goal game again.
Le Moyne countered with the final three goals of the half. McMullen put the Dolphins back up by two with 14:21 remaining after taking a pass from graduate student attacker
Sidney Hall (Adams Center, N.Y./South Jefferson). With the assist, Hall passed Erica Geremia '16 for second on the program's career assists list with her 105th. The duo reversed roles with 12:38 left to give the Dolphins a 5-2 lead. With the goal, Hall passed Amanda Keegan '07 for the second-most points in the program's history with her 243rd. Adrianna Nojaim (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) completed the scoring in the half with her ninth goal of the season with 11:25 to go.
The teams split the first six goals of the second half. Hall netted her sixth goal of the season just 48 seconds into the second half after taking a pass from Meagher. Krista Iwanicki answered for the Yellow Jackets with an unassisted tally with 27:15 left. Nojaim moved Le Moyne's lead back to five with 24:55 remaining after collecting a pass from Meagher. Rice took advantage of a Le Moyne yellow card to bring the Yellow Jackets back within four with 23:47 to go. McMullen followed with her 18th goal of the season 1:19 later. Iwanicki kept the alternating goals going with her 12th of the season with 21:25 to play.
The Yellow Jackets added two more goals to get within two with 17:27 remaining. Rice scored AIC's sixth goal with 18:20 left off a pass from Devin Coulter. Iwanicki then scored again with 17:27 left to make it 9-7.
Meneilly ended Le Moyne's scoring drought of almost eight minutes with her 10th of the season after taking a pass from Nojaim.
Coulter scored with 11:34 left to get the Yellow Jackets back within two, but that would be their last goal of the game.
Le Moyne regained control of the game with the last four goals. McMullen started the spurt with 9:28 left off a dish from senior midfielder
Lauren Ferris (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee). Just 42 seconds later, Ferris found Meagher for her third goal of the afternoon. Ferris collected her third straight assist with 7:36 left on a goal by Hall. McMullen completed the game's scoring with 6:20 remaining after receiving a pass from freshman midfielder
Reilly Geer (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill). With the goal, McMullen passed Rebekah Elmer '11 and Brenna Bauer '13 for eighth on the program's career goals scored chart with her 133rd.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Paige Crandall (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) recorded six saves, including three in each half, to earn her fifth win of the season. Chelsea Davis tallied nine saves in the setback.
Le Moyne (5-0, 5-0 NE10) travels to New Haven, Conn. on Wednesday to take on Southern Connecticut State University at 4:00 p.m.
