VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO JEFFERSON, 3-0, ON FIRST DAY OF WILDCAT REGIONAL INVITATIONAL

Newark, Del. – Jess Molen recorded a double-double to lead Jefferson to a 3-0 win over the Le Moyne College volleyball team on Friday afternoon on the first day of Wilmington University's Wildcat Regional Invitational.

The Rams took a 1-0 lead in the match with a 28-26 victory in the first set after the Dolphins rallied from a 23-17 deficit to take a 25-24 lead. Jefferson jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the second set en route to 25-20 win. Jefferson used a 7-0 run early in the third set and a 5-0 run later on to close out the match with a 25-18 victory.
 
Junior outside hitter Madeleine Kennedy (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) led the Dolphins in the loss with 12 kills on a .257 hitting percentage, while adding five digs. Graduate student setter Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) registered her third double-double of the season with 28 assists and 10 digs. Redshirt freshman libero Isabella Leslie (Elmhurst, Ill./IC Catholic Prep) led the Dolphins defensively with 13 digs.

Molen accumulated 13 kills and 10 digs for her double-double, while adding three service aces. Morgan Ritchie also land twin-figure kills with 12 on a .500 hitting percentage. Kristine Guenther directed the Rams offense with 32 assists to go along with seven digs. Cameron Johnson led all players in the match with 16 digs and added three aces and three assists, while Kerrigan Candra had 10 digs, six kills, three blocks and two aces.

Le Moyne (1-4) continues play at the Wildcat Regional Invite on Saturday, taking on Wilmington at 9:00 a.m. and Chestnut Hill College at 4:30 p.m.
