VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO ADELPHI, 3-0, IN NE10 OPENER

Syracuse, N.Y. – Noelle Alberda landed 10 kills to lead Adelphi University to a 3-0 win over the Le Moyne College volleyball team in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Court.

In the opening set, the teams went back and forth over the initial 32 points, leading to a tie at 16. The Panthers then rattled off seven straight points and nine of the last 10 for a 25-17 win. After the Dolphins scored three straight points to get within 10-9 of the Panthers in the second set, Adelphi used a 6-1 spurt to take control. Le Moyne crept back within 18-15, but Adelphi scored seven of the last eight points for a 25-16 victory. The Dolphins used a 3-0 burst to take a 10-9 lead early in the third set, but Adelphi answered with nine consecutive points and 16 of the last 19 to close out the match with a 25-13 win.

Redshirt freshman outside hitter Maethavee Siphakongviseth (Rochester, N.Y./Gates-Chili) led the Dolphins in the loss with nine kills and eight digs in her first career home match. Graduate student setter Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) directed the offense with 22 assists to go along with seven digs. Redshirt freshman libero Isabella Leslie (Elmhurst, Ill./IC Catholic Prep) led the Dolphins defensively with 12 digs.

Alberda registered five of her match-high 10 kills in the first set, while hitting .429 for the match. Kambel Fiser coordinated the offense with 33 assists to go with six digs, three blocks and two kills. Jamie Yonker paced the defense with 17 digs.
 
Le Moyne (2-7, 0-1 NE10) is back in action on Tuesday at Assumption University at 7:00 p.m.
