Worcester, Mass. – Alana Hruska and Anna Dean each recorded double-digit kills to lead Assumption University to a 3-0 win over the Le Moyne College volleyball team in Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday night at Laska Gymnasium.
After the Dolphins closed within 10-9 in the first set, Assumption rattled off 10 of the next 11 points to take control of the set. The Dolphins battled back within 22-17, but the Greyhounds put the set away with the final three points for a 25-17 win.
Assumption scored six straight points early in the second set to build a 10-5 advantage. The Dolphins answered back with an 8-3 run to even the set at 13 apiece and extended the run to 13-5 to take an 18-15 lead. After Assumption tied the score at 19 and 20, the Dolphins scored back-to-back points for their final lead before Assumption closed out the set with five consecutive points for a 25-22 win.
Following back-and-forth play in the beginning of the third set, the Greyhounds used a 6-1 run to take a 12-6 lead. Assumption later scored back-to-back points for a 15-9 lead, but the Dolphins responded with an 11-3 jaunt to take a 20-18 lead. Following a point from each team, the Greyhounds scored five straight to get within match point. The Dolphins landed a kill to stave off defeat, but Hruska followed with one of her own to end the set and the match.

Madeleine Kennedy (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) led the Dolphins in the match with 11 kills. Freshman outside hitter
Rose Talty (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) came off the bench in the second set and went on to land seven kills in nine attempts over the final two sets in the first extensive action of her career. Graduate student setter
Emily Yancone (Rochester, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) registered her fifth double-double of the season with 24 assists and 11 digs. Redshirt freshman libero
Isabella Leslie (Elmhurst, Ill./IC Catholic Prep) led the Dolphins defensively with 14 digs.
Hruska hit .647 en route to landing a team-best 11 kills, while not committing an error. Dean turned in 10 kills on a .280 hitting percentage. Kyra Belden facilitated the offense with 40 assists. Barbara Illig led the Greyhounds on the defensive end with 26 digs, while Alexis Distasio and Alexandra Krawczyk each tallied 11 digs.
Le Moyne (2-8, 0-2 NE10) returns to the court on Saturday at Southern Connecticut State University at 2:30 p.m.
