Williamsville, N.Y. - The Le Moyne College women's tennis team defeated the Daemen College Wildcats 7-0 at the Williamsville South High School Courts on Wednesday afternoon to improve to 6-0 on the season.

For the second time this season senior Brianna Laureti (Oneida, N.Y./Oneida) and sophomore Fiona Pepper (Challapampa, Peru/Colegio Anglo Americano Prescott) were paired together for a number three doubles match, and for the second time they came away with a win, this time defeating Daemen's Frida Rubio and Yinett Del Leon 6-4. The duo of Isabella Barona (Manta, Ecuador/Talentos De Manta) and Brooke Fernandez (Shirley, N.Y./William Floyd) did not drop a set in the number two doubles match, defeating Mackenzie Schayes and Hannah Pagano 6-0. The team of Birdem Oz (Istanbul, Turkey/Ted Ankara College Foundation HS) and Francesca Lilliegren (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Colegio Alemán Humboldt Guayaquil) improved to 6-0 on the year in number one doubles matches, taking down Kitsa Scime and Christina Stasiuk 6-2.

The Dolphins were able to sweep the singles portion of the competition. Laureti blanked Ailish McDevitt 6-0, 6-0 in the number six singles position, and Fernandez achieved the same result over Pagano in the number five singles match. Lilliegren handled Schayes 6-0, 6-2 in the number four singles match, and Pepper won a close match over Scime in the number three singles spot 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 (10-2). Oz defeated Stasiuk convincingly by a score of 6-0, 6-0 in the number two singles match, and Barona earned her first career number one singles match victory with a 6-1, 6-2 win against Rubio.

Here's what Le Moyne head coach Jeff Lonczak '03 had to say after the match:

"Another solid performance by the women today. Once again the tone was set on the doubles court with a great performance by Bri Laureti and Fiona Pepper at third doubles. We stayed focused at singles and look forward to our biggest weekend of the year."

The Le Moyne College women's tennis team will host a pair of back-to-back NE-10 Conference dual matches over the weekend, first taking on Adelphi on Saturday, October 2 at 12:00 p.m. and then battling New Haven on Sunday, October 3 at 12:00 p.m. Both matches will take place at the Nottingham High School courts.
