Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's basketball team will return to Ted Grant Court to battle conference opponent Assumption University on Saturday afternoon, with tip-off scheduled for 1:00 PM. The two men's programs will play afterwards.
After a six-game winning streak which started on January 1 at American International College, the Dolphins are coming off a loss at Franklin Pierce on Thursday. Le Moyne held an eight-point lead at halftime in the FPU Fieldhouse but shot just 13% (4-31) as a team during the second half and eventually dropped their second conference matchup of the season to the Ravens, their first NE10 loss since November 23 when they fell at Saint Rose in overtime, 73-72.
Senior
Emma Brinker (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) was the only Le Moyne player to score in double figures during the loss, finishing the contest with 20 points and 14 rebounds to complete her eighth double-double of the season.
Brinker and the rest of the Dolphins front line dominated the interior during the first half, creating 12 second chance points within the first 20 minutes of the game. Le Moyne went cold during the final two periods, and the Ravens did a much better job of keeping the Dolphins off the offensive glass. Junior guard
Lytoya Baker (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) dealt with foul trouble throughout the entire first half and played less than 30 minutes for just the second time this season.
Baker had been spectacular during Le Moyne's six game winning streak, averaging 13.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.8 steals in 36.7 minutes during that span. On the season, the 5'9" junior guard is averaging 9.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.6 steals in 34.2 minutes of action.
The Dolphins are currently at the top of the Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division standings.
Assumption will travel to Syracuse with an 8-8 overall record, and a 5-6 NE10 resume. The Greyhounds have won three-straight games against conference opponents New Haven, Southern Connecticut State and Saint Rose. Graduate guard Meghan Cramb leads them in scoring with 12.3 points per game, along with 3.7 rebounds. She currently averages 2.3 made three-point field goals per game. Cramb, first year guard Marina Callahan, sophomore guard Amanda Mieczkowski and senior guard Ja'Lyn Armstrong each scored in double figures during the team's win over Saint Rose on Thursday.
