FOURACRE, ZIMMERMAN AND BAKER COMBINE FOR THE LE MOYNE COLLEGE PLAY OF THE WEEK PRESENTED BY SODEXO

1/3/2022 1:39:00 PM

Syracuse, N.Y. - The Le Moyne College Play of the Week, Presented by Sodexo, for the week ending on January 2 occurred during the women's basketball team's 71-61 NE10 Conference victory over the American International College Yellow Jackets on Saturday afternoon in Springfield. Junior guard Lytoya Baker (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) finished a fast break layup through contact from a defender, drew a foul and converted the additional free-throw to put the Dolphins up 62-56 midway through the fourth quarter.

With under five minutes remaining in the contest, the Yellow Jackets had scored back-to-back baskets to make it a one-possession game. AIC had the ball down three with a chance to tie the game on their home court.

At the 4:53 mark of the fourth quarter, American International graduate student guard Nyrie Holliman tracked down an offensive rebound in the paint off a missed Rosa Vreugd three-point field goal and drifted towards the left corner of the court by the baseline. Holliman lofted a pass towards the top of the key intended for Destine Perry, who was standing midway between the three-point line and half court. Le Moyne senior lead guard Erin Fouracre (Loudonville, N.Y./Colonie Central) reacted to the pass like a free safety, rose high in the air and deflected the pass with her left hand towards the Dolphins' frontcourt. Fouracre tracked the ball down on the right sideline and began dribbling diagonally towards the basket. Perry sprinted back to her basket and got in front of Fouracre's drive. Just before Fouracre reached the right block, she sent a pass to senior forward Jenna Zimmerman (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) who ran the floor to the left block. The ever unselfish and skilled Zimmerman jumped in the air to catch Fouracre's feed with two hands and before she came back down to the ground dropped off a pass to Baker in the middle of the paint. Baker rose off two feet, absorbed contact from Perry, adjusted in mid-air, converted the layup, drew a foul and sank the additional free-throw to double Le Moyne's lead.

The Dolphins eventually won the conference contest on the road by double-digits to improve to 5-2 on the season and 3-1 in conference competition.

The Le Moyne College women's basketball team will be back in action on Wednesday, January 5 against Pace University at 5:00 p.m. EST on Ted Grant Court.
