VOLLEYBALL FALLS IN NE10 ACTION AT NEW HAVEN, 3-0

West Haven, Conn. – Emily Barry and Macy Brown recorded double-doubles to lead the University of New Haven to a 3-0 win over the Le Moyne College volleyball team on Saturday evening in Northeast-10 Conference action at Charger Gymnasium.

The Chargers jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the first set before the teams split the next 12 points. New Haven followed with a pair of 4-0 spurts en route to taking the set, 25-13.

Le Moyne used a 5-1 run early in the second set to take a 9-7 lead. After the teams traded the next four points, New Haven rattled off five in a row and eight of the next nine to take a 17-12 advantage. The Dolphins answered with eight of the next 12 points to close within 21-20, but New Haven scored three in a row and four of the last five points of the set for the 25-21 win.

The teams went back and forth over the opening 15 points of the third set. The Chargers took control of the set with multiple three and four-point runs to go up 20-11. The teams alternated points over the final 10 as New Haven closed out the match with a 25-16 victory.

Senior outside hitter Madeleine Kennedy (Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) led the Dolphins in the setback with nine kills. Redshirt sophomore libero Isabella Leslie (Elmhurst, Ill.IC Catholic Prep) was the team's defensive leader with 20 digs.

Barry led the Chargers with 15 kills on a .467 hitting percentage, while contributing 11 digs on the defensive end. Brown hit .414 en route to 14 kills to go along with a team-high 19 digs and five service aces. Amihan Johnson was the third Charger with double-digit kills with 11. Sophia Leon-Tabor directed the offense with 44 assists and added seven digs. Rilee Jessee contributed 14 digs to the Chargers defensive efforts.

Le Moyne (5-6, 1-1 NE10) is back on the court on Wednesday at Daemen University at 6:00 p.m.
