MEN’S AND WOMEN’S SWIMMING AND DIVING TEAMS SWEPT BY BENTLEY IN HOME OPENER

Syracuse, N.Y. – Bentley University registered a sweep of the Le Moyne College men's and women's swimming and diving teams on Saturday afternoon at the Rev. Vincent B. Ryan, S.J. Pool. The Falcons were 174-124 victors on the men's side and 179.5-110.5 winners on the women's side.

"We had a tough opponent, Bentley's coaching staff always does a great job preparing the teams," said head coach Adam Zaczkowski '04. "I'm proud of the way our swimmers and divers competed and fought for every place."

"Thanks to the fans and supporters for coming out and packing the stands. It's always great to compete in front of that type of environment."

Senior Madison Zapisek (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) won the 200-yard freestyle by rallying on the final stretch to touch the wall first with a time of 2:01.00.

Sophomore Brenna Horan (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point/SUNY Geneseo) placed first in the 200-yard butterfly by almost two seconds with a time of 2:20.35.

The quartet of seniors Caitlyn Longway (Sauquoit, N.Y./Sauquoit Valley) and Genevieve Kikukawa (Kalaupapa, Hawaii/University Laboratory School), redshirt sophomore MaryLauren Burke (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) and Zapisek won the 200-yard freestyle relay by over two seconds with a time of 1:42.40.

Sophomore Justin Byrne (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) swept the two one-meter diving events. He tallied 183.70 points to win the first. He won the second event with 292.60 points.

Senior Charles Morris (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) was victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke by over one second with a time of 1:00.51.

Freshman Nathaniel Kwait (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield) edged his competition in the 200-yard butterfly by 0.38 seconds by touching the wall in 2:07.98.

Freshman Keegan Stafford (Charlton, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) captured first place in the 200-yard backstroke by almost one and one-half seconds with a mark of 2:00.34.

The Dolphins are back in the pool on Saturday at Roberts Wesleyan University at 11:00 a.m.
