WOMEN’S TENNIS REGISTERS THIRD STRAIGHT WIN, 5-2, OVER BINGHAMTON

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's tennis team registered its third straight win with a 5-2 victory over Binghamton University on Tuesday afternoon at the Skytop Tennis Courts.

The Dolphins swept the doubles competition for the sixth time this year to take a 1-0 lead. Freshman Stella Simeonova (Sofia, Bulgaria/National Gymnasium of Mathematics and Natural Sciences) and senior Francesca Lilliegren (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Colegio Alemán Humboldt Guayaquil) moved to 3-0 as a tandem with a 6-3 victory at the first position over Natalia Aruj and Loren Cuomo. Sophomore Isabella Barona (Manta, Ecuador/Talentos de Manta) and junior Fiona Pepper (Challapampa, Peru/Colegio Anglo Americano Prescott) also improved to 3-0 as a duo with a 6-3 win over Lara Kaplan and Caterina Casadei at the second spot. Freshmen Alicia Alvarez (Madrid, Spain/IES Ortega y Gasset) and Paula Casares (A Coruna, Spain/Colegio Maristas Cristo Rey) increased their record to 7-1 by blanking Maria Pereira and Abby Ackroyd at the third position, 6-0.
 
Le Moyne took four of the six matches in the singles competition to clinch the victory. Alvarez improved to 4-1 at the third position with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Casadei. Casares remained unbeaten on the campaign (8-0) with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at the fourth spot over Pereira. Lilliegren registered back-to-back scores of 6-2 over Valeria Gonzalez at the fifth position. Pepper pushed her record to 8-1 on the year with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the sixth spot over Bridget Martin. Aruj was a 6-1, 6-2 win at the top position over Simeonova, while Kaplan tallied a 6-0, 6-3 win over Barona at the second spot.

Le Moyne (6-3) returns to NE10 action on Saturday at Adelphi University at 12:00 p.m.
