Luke Sutherland (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee/Siena/Bryant) of the men's basketball team has been named the Le Moyne College Athlete of the Week, presented by King + King Architects, as announced by the department on Monday evening
Sutherland receives the recognition for the second straight week after he averaged 17.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in Le Moyne's 2-1 week.
He began the week with 11 points, including seven in the second half, six rebounds and three blocks in a 76-65 victory at Adelphi on Tuesday.
He opened play at Gannon University's Gary Miller Classic on Friday evening by tallying 20 points, including 12 in the second half and six in overtime, five rebounds and two assists in an 83-81 overtime setback to Winston-Salem State.
He then registered 20 points, including 15 consecutive in the first half, and four rebounds in a 61-59 come-from-behind win over Gannon on Saturday.
Le Moyne (3-4), which improved to 5-5 in five appearances at the Gary Miller Classic and 2-1 in the consolation game, returns to Northeast-10 Conference action on Wednesday at Franklin Pierce University at 7:30 p.m.
