WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CLAIMS THIRD STRAIGHT VICTORY


Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's basketball team claimed their third consecutive non-conference victory on Monday afternoon by defeating the visiting D'Youville University Saints on Ted Grant Court by a score of 71-59.

The Dolphins outscored the Saints 22-13 during the second quarter to establish a 36-24 advantage after 20 minutes of action.

Senior guard Lytoya Baker (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) shot 8-10 from the field and finished the Le Moyne victory with a team-high 18 points to go along with seven rebounds.

Redshirt-sophomore forward Haedyn Roberts (Holland Patent, N.Y./Holland Patent) tallied 11 points and eight rebounds for the 'Phins, while Kaia Goode (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) and Sydney Lusher (Oneida, N.Y./Oneida) both contributed 10 points to the Le Moyne cause.

Graduate guard Saeeda Abdul-Aziz (Schenectady, N.Y./Mohonasen/Davidson) registered 12 points on 4-7 from the field, including 2-5 from beyond the three-point line.

The Dolphins also received bench points from sophomore guard Emily Florvil (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth) – who tallied five points, three rebounds and an assist in 17 minutes of action – and first-year guard Michelina Lombardi (Wynantskill, N.Y./Averill Park).

Sophomore guard Anna Jankovic scored a game-high 20 points for the Saints and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, while junior guard Brianne Moxley and sophomore forward Sofie Fuglsang both contributed 12 points to the D'Youville cause.

D'Youville sophomore point guard Stella Mollica recorded a game-high nine assists.

The Saints shot 50% from the field, including 4-9 from beyond the three-point line during the fourth quarter and cut their deficit to 65-59 with 2:04 left in the contest.

Goode knocked down two clutch free throws to put Le Moyne up by eight points, then Baker scored the final two field goals of the contest within the final 1:30 to put the game away.

The Le Moyne College women's basketball team improved to 8-4 overall following the victory, and will be in action next on Saturday, December 31 when they take on the University of New Haven in West Haven.
