MEN’S TENNIS REGISTERS 6-1 WIN OVER MERCYHURST

Erie, Pa. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team won its third straight match with a 6-1 victory over Mercyhurst University on Friday afternoon at the Westwood Racquet Club.

The Dolphins took a 1-0 lead on the day by claiming the point in the doubles competition. At the third position, redshirt senior Jared Howard (Malmesbury, South Africa/Homeschooled/ASA College) and junior Felipe Cruz (San Jose, Costa Rica/Blue Valley School/Saint Louis) were 6-2 winners over Kiran Richards and Juan Hernandez. Fifth year Tom Jarry (Paris, France/CNED Toulouse/Emmanuel) and junior Ethan Miller (Swindon, England/Cirencetser Kingshill School) clinched the point for the Dolphins with a 6-3 victory over David Akinpetide and Milan Jankovic at the top spot. Ben Davis and Noha DeSousa Pereira were 6-3 winners at the second position over graduate student Manuel Righi (Bologna, Italy/IPC Manfredi - ITC Tanari/Concordia (N.Y.)/Universita di Bologna) and freshman Peter Hatton (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt/Club Med Academics/Army West Point).

Le Moyne then won five of the six matches in the singles competition. Jarry earned his eighth win of the year by recording back-to-back scores of 6-4 at the first position over Davis. Righi improved to 2-0 as a Dolphin by defeating Jankovic at the third spot, 6-4, 6-0. Hatton also moved to 2-0 by rally to beat Hristo Plasheski at the fourth position, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. Junior Kacper Piekarek (Wroclaw, Poland/Autorskrie Licea Artystyczne Akademickie/Missouri-Kansas City) posted a 6-4, 6-2 win at the fifth spot over Morris Haab. Miller rallied to down DeSousa Pereira at the sixth position, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. Akinpetide earned Mercyhurst's point with a 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 come-from-behind win over Howard.
 
Le Moyne (3-1) returns to the Westwood Racquet Club on Saturday to take on Edinboro University at 1:00 p.m.
