WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TO CELEBRATE SENIOR DAY ON SATURDAY BEFORE NE10 MATCHUP AGAINST SCSU

2/11/2022 6:26:00 PM

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's basketball team will celebrate their seniors on Ted Grant Court before Saturday afternoon's matchup against Southern Connecticut State. With tip-off scheduled for 1:00 p.m. EST, the Dolphins will look to avenge their 62-51 loss to the Owls in New Haven at the beginning of the month.

During the pre-game ceremonies, the Le Moyne College Athletics Community will recognize five women's basketball players who have made tremendous contributions to their program: Seniors Emma Brinker (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora), Erin Fouracre (Loudonville, N.Y./Colonie Central), Jenna Zimmerman (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) and Azariah Wade (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Grimes/Hartford) and graduate student Gabriella Badway (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel)

From 2018-2022 the group has been a part of Le Moyne squads with an overall record of 59-19.

Badway began her Le Moyne career during the 2017-18 campaign and since then has appeared in 65 games for the Dolphins, tallying 20 assists and 21 steals so far as a 'Phin.

Brinker, Fouracre, and Zimmerman each arrived on The Heights as freshmen in Fall of 2018.

All four players saw the court during Le Moyne's 67-45 Northeast-10 Conference Championships Final victory over Bentley in 2019

Brinker has shot nearly 50% from the field during her Le Moyne career and has totaled over 260 rebounds in 44 games played as a Dolphin so far. Brinker has recorded 10 double-doubles during the 2021-22 campaign.

During her two full campaigns as a Dolphin, plus this current season, Fouracre has totaled nearly 500 points and 173 assists in over 1,700 minutes played.

Zimmerman has started all 78 games that she has played in so far during her college career on The Heights. The 6'2" forward has amassed over 500 rebounds and nearly 700 points in over 2,500 minutes played as a Dolphin.

On the season, Zimmerman is averaging 7.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.2 steals in 35.2 minutes played per game.

Fouracre is playing on average 36.2 minutes per contest, while contributing 12.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 4.9 assists per game, which is the second highest per game assist average in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Brinker is grabbing an NE10-leading 5.2 offensive rebounds per game so far this season. The 6'2" forward provides a team-high 15.2 points and 9.6 rebounds per contest, along with 1.4 rejections.

Wade joined the Dolphins in Fall 2020 after spending her first two years of college at the University of Hartford. The Dolphins didn't compete during the 2020-21 academic year and she has missed this season due to a lower-body injury.

Redshirt junior guard Saeeda Abdul-Aziz (Schenectady, N.Y./Mohonasen/Davidson) is averaging 10.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game for the Dolphins and tied her season-high scoring output of 21 points during her team's win at New Haven on February 5.

Junior guard Lytoya Baker (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) is also averaging double-figure points for Le Moyne, scoring 10.1 per contest to go along with 6.4 boards, which is the second highest per game rebound average in the conference among guards. Baker is also dishing out 2.7 assists per game and ripping a team-high 2.0 steals per game.

Redshirt freshman forward Haedyn Roberts (Holland Patent, N.Y./Holland Patent) and junior guard Lexi Gruss (Binghamton, N.Y./Binghamton) have been essential for the Dolphins off the bench this season, averaging 18.1 and 20.7 minutes per game, respectively. Both provide a jolt of energy for the 'Phins when inserted into the game, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Roberts is pulling down 4.6 rebounds per contest and shooting 44% from the field. Gruss has recorded a steal in each of Le Moyne's last six games and has provided at least one assist in each of Le Moyne's last seven games. On the season, the 5'6" guard is averaging 2.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.

Southern Connecticut State went through a difficult stretch in January. The Owls went 0-6 during the first month of 2022 and had five other games postponed.

SCSU started off the month of February with a 62-51 win over the visiting Dolphins on the 3rd. Including the win over the Dolphins, the Owls have gone 3-1 during the first half of the month to improve their record to 9-10 overall and 6-7 against conference competition.

Following its win over Le Moyne, Southern Connecticut State dropped an NE10 battle at home to American International College, but bounced back with conference wins over Saint Anselm College and Pace University. The Owls shot 18-31 from behind the three-point line during their impressive 105-69 victory over the 12-10 Hawks.

SCSU senior point guard Zoe Amalbert has scored in double-figures during all nine of her team's wins so far this season. Amalbert also leads the Northeast-10 in assists and assists per game, with 125 total assists through 19 contests.

Graduate forward Jessica Fressle plays 35.4 minutes per game for the Owls. The 5'11" forward averages a double-double of 17.5 points and 11.1 rebounds and has made a team-high 33 steals so far this season. During the Owls' three wins in the month of February, Fressle is averaging 24 points on 60% shooting from the field.

Senior guard Delaney Connors is an extremely important member of the Owls lineup, averaging 12.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game during 36.6 minutes of action.

Graduate guard Patricia Conroy has started all 16 games that she has appeared in so far this season and is always a threat from behind the three-point arc.

Le Moyne won both meetings between the two programs during the 2019-20 season, and the two sides split their home-and-home matchups during the 2018-19 campaign.
