Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's basketball team have won two games in a row, and currently hold a 7-9 record against conference competition. The first of their two recent wins came against American International College on February 10 in Springfield.
On Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. the Dolphins will play their last home game of the regular season against the Yellow Jackets, who have not played a game since their home defeat at the hands of the Dolphins less than a week ago.
Five Le Moyne players scored in double figures during their win at American International. Redshirt-freshman guard
Christian Davis (Denver, Colo./Mullen/New Hampton School) scored a game-high 18 points to go along with eight rebounds.
Kevin Constant (Lawrence, Mass./Central Catholic/Tilton School) and
Nino Hernandez (Gardner, Mass./The Winchendon School/Bryant) each contributed 13 points, while
Xavier Wilson (Spring Valley, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac/The Hotchkiss School/Central Connecticut State) tallied 11 points and
Isaiah Elmore (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Catholic) provided 10 points during the win.
Sophomore forward
Luke Sutherland (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee/Siena/Bryant) poured in a game-high 19 points on 9-12 shooting from the field and grabbed a team-high six rebounds along with two blocks and one steal in 17 minutes played during Le Moyne's 78-62 home victory over Southern Connecticut State on Saturday. Excluding the game at Saint Anselm where Sutherland only played six minutes due to leaving the game with an injury, the 6'7 forward is averaging 12.1 points while shooting 55% from the field, 5.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.9 blocks through nine appearances.
Along with Sutherland and Davis, who is still leading the Dolphins in scoring with 13.9 points per game, redshirt-freshman guard
Kevin Constant is the third Le Moyne player with a double-figure per game scoring average. Constant is providing 10.3 points per game, along with 2.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.7 steals and 0.8 blocks during 27.1 minutes of action.
AIC has lost 11 straight games and currently holds an overall record of 6-18, including a 3-12 resume against Northeast-10 opponents. The Yellow Jackets' last win came on January 5 against New Haven.
Just like Le Moyne, American International had five players score in double figures during the February 10 battle between the two sides. Junior forward Frankyn Batista, graduate guard Zion Golding, senior guard Shyheim Hicks, sophomore wing Jalen Jordan, and first year guard Donovan Miller each scored at least 10 points during their team's home loss to the Dolphins.
On the season, Batista is leading the Yellow Jackets with 11.6 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest.
The Dolphins have won the last four meeting between the two programs. The last Yellow Jackets win came on November 14, 2018, when American International took down the Dolphins in Springfield by a score of 74-70.
