Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team extended its win streak to five with a 7-0 victory over Colgate University on Saturday afternoon at Drumlins Tennis Club.
The Dolphins earned the point in the doubles competition by winning two of the three matches. Graduate student
Manuel Righi (Bologna, Italy/IPC Manfredi - ITC Tanari/Concordia (N.Y.)/Universita di Bologna) and freshman
Peter Hatton (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt/Club Med Academics/Army West Point) earned the first win, 6-3, over Benito Vlassis and Nate Romig at the second spot. Fifth year
Tom Jarry (Paris, France/CNED Toulouse/Emmanuel) and junior
Ethan Miller (Swindon, England/Cirencetser Kingshill School) clinched the point with a 7-5 victory at the first position over Rohan Gupta and Nick Potter. Mike Thomas and Josh Israel won at the third spot for the Raiders, 6-4, over redshirt senior
Jared Howard (Malmesbury, South Africa/Homeschooled/ASA College) and junior
Felipe Cruz (San Jose, Costa Rica/Blue Valley School/Saint Louis).
Le Moyne swept the singles competition by winning five of the six matches in straight sets. Jarry earned his 10th win of the year by downing Rohan Gupta at the first position, 7-5, 6-2. Righi improved to 4-0 as a Dolphin with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the second spot over Vlassis. Howard registered a 6-2, 6-4 win at the third position over Thomas. In the closest match of the day, Hatton rallied to defeat Romig at the fourth spot, 1-6, 6-2, 6-4, to improve to 4-0 as a Dolphin. Junior
Kacper Piekarek (Wroclaw, Poland/Autorskrie Licea Artystyczne Akademickie/Missouri-Kansas City) topped Israel at the fifth position with back-to-back scores of 6-4. Miller completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-4 win at the sixth spot over Ben Graham.
Le Moyne (5-1) is back on the courts on Sunday against Union College at 12:00 p.m. at Sportime in Schenectady.
