Lakeland, Fla. – Jay Minor scored the game-winning goal to lead 16th-ranked Florida Southern College to a 12-10 upset of the top-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team on Monday night at Berend Field.

The loss snaps Le Moyne's 23-game win streak dating back to a 15-14 loss to Merrimack College in the NCAA semifinals on May 18, 2019. It also snaps the program's 24-game regular season win streak, which began following a 12-11 loss to Merrimack on March 23, 2019.
The Dolphins opened the game with the first two goals over the initial 3:23. Redshirt senior midfielder
Zach Pierce (Gansevoort, N.Y./Schuylerville/Onondaga C.C.) netted his seventh goal of the season just 67 seconds into the game. Just over two minutes later, Pierce scored again, this time off a feed from graduate student attackman
Carter Collins (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake/Lindenwood).
The Mocs got on the scoreboard with 9:33 left as Brydon Robichaud tallied his fourth goal of the campaign off a dish from Jeff Atlas.
Le Moyne regained its two-goal lead just 51 seconds later as Collins recorded his 12th goal of the season.
Florida Southern started the scoring in the second quarter just 57 seconds in as Kevin Dyer scored his fifth goal of the year.
The Dolphins answered with three straight goals to take their largest lead of the game. Senior attackman
Kevin Sheehan (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) posted his eighth goal of the campaign with 11:56 left off a pass from Pierce, who followed with his ninth of the year with 10:08 left. Sheehan made the score 6-2 with 8:21 remaining off a dish from graduate student midfielder
Evan Kelly (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Aquinas Institute).
The Mocs scored the final two goals of the quarter to get within 6-4 at halftime. Matt Flammenspeck registered his fourth goal of the year with 2:11 left off an assist by Vinh Dawkins. Griffin Phillips got the Mocs within two with a transition goal with 14 seconds remaining.
Florida Southern continued its run with the first two goals of the third quarter. Brendan Glasser scored his first goal of the year with 12:41 left and Atlas followed with his 19th of the season only 38 seconds later to tie the score at six apiece.
The Dolphins regained the lead with 5:21 left as senior midfielder
Colin Sypek (Lake Worth, Fla./American Heritage School (Delray Beach)) finished off a pass from Pierce.
Florida Southern tallied four consecutive goals over the final 4:02 of the third quarter. Edward May evened the score at seven with 4:02 left with his 10th goal of the season after taking a pass from Atlas. Robichaud put the Mocs in front for the first time with 2:36 to go off a dish from Glasser. Flammenspeck increased the lead just 43 seconds later off a feed from May. Following a penalty on the Dolphins, Sean Nolan scored an extra-man goal from the left alley with 39 seconds left off a pass from Dyer.
Le Moyne scored three times in the first 2:23 of the fourth quarter to tie the score again. After the Dolphins started the quarter with the ball and in an extra-man situation, Sheehan tallied his 10th goal of the season from the right edge of the crease at the 14:28 mark off a pass from Pierce. Kelly netted his third goal of the season with 13:04 left off a pass from senior midfielder
John Bergan (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) to get the Dolphins within one. Just 27 seconds later, Collins scored his 13th goal of the year from the front edge of the crease after receiving a feed from Sheehan.
Le Moyne put four shots on target over the next seven minutes, but Maxwell Freestone was able to turn each away to keep the score tied.
The Mocs took the lead back with 3:34 remaining as Minor tallied his 13th goal of the season.
The Dolphins got the ball back with just over two and one-half minutes left, but committed a turnover with 1:31 remaining. Atlas started with the ball off the restart and drove down the right alley to the cage to score his 20th goal of the season with 1:24 left.
Le Moyne won the ensuing faceoff, but turned the ball over before being able to get off a shot and Florida Southern was able to run out the clock.
Graduate student goalkeeper
Frank Delia (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker/Onondaga C.C.) recorded six saves in suffering his first loss between the pipes. Freestone finished the game with 12 saves to earn the victory.
Le Moyne (4-1) returns to action on Saturday for its Northeast-10 Conference opener at ninth-ranked Saint Anselm College at 12:00 p.m.
