SECOND-RANKED MEN’S LACROSSE EARNS SIXTH WIN OVER RANKED OPPONENT, 13-6, OVER 16TH-RANKED BENTLEY

Waltham, Mass. – Attackman Carter Collins (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake/Lindenwood) and midfielder Zach Pierce (Gansevoort, N.Y./Schuylerville/Onondaga C.C.) each recorded five points to lead the second-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team to a 13-6 win over 16th-ranked Bentley University on Tuesday evening in Northeast-10 Conference action at Bentley Field.

"It was great to see a solid effort at both ends of the field today against a strong Bentley team," said head coach Dan Sheehan.

The Dolphins, who have six wins over ranked opponents, jumped out to a 5-0 lead through the first 12 and one-half minutes. Following a pair of high shots by the Dolphins, graduate student midfielder Ben McCreary (Cicero, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) found the back of the net at the 12:10 mark for his 14th goal of the season. Just over two minutes later, Collins tallied his 22nd goal of the campaign off a feed from senior midfielder John Bergan (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee), who scooped up a ground ball off a saved shot. McCreary pushed the lead to 3-0 with an unassisted marker with 7:44 left in the quarter. Just 24 seconds later, Collins finished off a pass from graduate student midfielder Evan Kelly (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Aquinas Institute). Bergan completed the streak at the 2:49 mark with his seventh goal of the year off a dish from Collins.

Ben Baldasaro got the Falcons on the scoreboard with 31 seconds remaining in the opening quarter.

Le Moyne scored the first two goals of the second quarter for a 7-1 lead. Pierce netted his first goal of the game at the 8:17 mark after receiving a pass from senior attackman Kevin Sheehan (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee). Collins completed his hat trick just before the possession clock expired with 6:50 left in the half.

Bentley countered with back-to-back goals to get back within four. Luke Jaber tallied his 24th goal of the season with 5:48 left off a pass from Baldasaro. Devin Smith then scored his eight goal of the year with 2:46 to go.

Pierce completed the scoring in the first half with 1:47 remaining after accepting a pass from senior midfielder Colin Sypek (Lake Worth, Fla./American Heritage School (Delray Beach)).

Following almost 11 minutes of scoreless play to start the third quarter, Nathan Alviti posted his fifth goal of the season to get the Falcons within 8-4.

Graduate student attackman Devin Andrews (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy/Stony Brook) pushed Le Moyne's lead back to five with his 13th goal of the year off a pass from Pierce with 48 seconds left in the quarter.

The Dolphins scored four of the first five goals in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Andrews started the run at the 12:44 mark off a pass from Sheehan. Baldasaro answered back with 11:00 left off a feed from Matty O'Brien. Pierce scored his 23rd goal of the year just 24 seconds later to start a 3-0 run. Collins netted his 25th marker of the campaign with 8:44 remaining off a dish from Pierce. Kelly finished off Le Moyne's scoring from the left edge of the crease with 3:56 left following a pass from Andrews.

Clay Moseman ended the game's scoring with 2:11 remaining after taking a pass from Ryan Birch.

Graduate student goalkeeper Frank Delia (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker/Onondaga C.C.) registered 16 saves, his second-highest total of the season, en route to earning his 10th win of the year between the posts. Keaton Roarick turned away 12 shots for the Falcons.

Le Moyne (10-1, 6-0 NE10) returns to action on Friday at 11:00 a.m. against American International College. Prior to the game, the 17 members of the senior class will be honored by the Dolphin Athletic Association for their contributions to the program.
