Indianapolis, Ind. – The Le Moyne College men's golf team has been selected to participate in the Atlantic/East Regional of the 2022 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships, as selected by the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Committee and announced by the association on Friday evening.
The Dolphins, who earned the second seed following five top-three finishes this year, will be appearing in their 16th regional in the last 21 seasons (excluding 2020) and 10th under 15th-year head coach
Joe Tesori '71. The Dolphins, who captured the Northeast Regional in 2007 and also advanced to the national finals in 2015, 2016 and 2017, are making their second straight appearance at the NCAA Championships.
The four regional competitions, which consist of two regions each, will be conducted May 5-7. Each regional will consist of 20 teams and eight individual players. The Atlantic/East Regional will be hosted by Rochester Sports and Le Moyne College at Ravenwood Golf Club in Victor, N.Y.
Joining the Dolphins from the East Region are Southern New Hampshire University, St. Thomas Aquinas College, Post University, Assumption University (the champion of the Northeast-10 Conference), Goldey-Beacom College, Wilmington University (the champion of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference), Bentley University, Franklin Pierce University and Saint Anselm College.
Representing the Atlantic Region will be Davis & Elkins College, University of Charleston (the champion of the Mountain East Conference), West Liberty University, Gannon University, Mercyhurst University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania (the champion of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference), California University of Pennsylvania, West Chester University, University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown and Livingstone College (the champion of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association).
At a minimum, the top three teams and the top two student-athletes not with a team from each regional (regardless of region) will advance to the finals, May 16-20, at TPC Michigan in Detroit, Michigan. The remaining eight team berths will be allocated based on the regions represented in the prior year's medal-match portion of the championships, with the maximum number of teams from a given region capped at seven. This year, the Atlantic/East Regional and the South Central/West Regional will each get one extra berth, while the South/Southeast Regional and the Central/Midwest Regional will each get three extra berths. The finals will be hosted by Wayne State (Michigan) and the Detroit Sports Commission.
