Owen Corby (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) tied for ninth place to lead the Le Moyne College men's golf team to its second straight fourth-place finish at the NEC Championship, which was held Friday through Sunday at the par-71 Original Course at the Turf Valley Resort.
Howard University won its third consecutive team championship after overcoming a five-shot deficit by posting an even-par 284 on Sunday to finish the Championship at 861. The Bison recorded scores of two-under 282 and 295 over the first two days. LIU finished as the runner-up for the third straight year at 868 after turning in a 296 in the final round following a 287 and a 285 in the first two rounds. FDU finished in third place for the second consecutive year with a total of 869 after registering a 287, a 290 and a 292. The Dolphins separated themselves from the remainder of the field with a 292 on Sunday to end the three rounds at 883. They recorded a 292 in the first round to land in fifth place and then moved up one spot with a 299 in the second round. LIU's Arjun Singh Bhatia captured medalist honors with a five-under par total of 208 after recording a 69 on Friday to go with a 70 on Saturday and another 69 on Sunday.
Corby, who tied for second place last year, finished in a three-way tie for ninth place among the 54 competitors to compete in each of the three rounds at 218, which included seven birdies and 36 pars, which tied for the third-most in the field. He was in a tie for 15th place after carding a first-round one-over par 72, which featured three birdies and 11 pars. He moved into a five-way tie for seventh after recording a second straight 72, which included one birdie and 15 pars. He registered a 74 on Sunday, which featured three birdies and 10 pars, but dipped two spots.
Senior
Anthony Maglisco (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) tied for 12th place for the second time in three years with a 219, which featured six birdies and 36 pars, which joined Corby for the third-most in the field. He opened with a one-under par 70, including three birdies and 13 pars, on Friday to land in a three-way tie for sixth place. He followed with a 75 in the second round after posting one birdie and 12 pars to end the afternoon in a three-way tie for 12th. He remained in 12th place with a 74 in the final round, which featured two birdies and 11 pars.
Freshman
Jacob Olearczyk (Barneveld, N.Y./Holland Patent) finished in a three-way tie for 20th with a 222, which included six birdies and 35 pars. He was in an 11-way tie for 31st place following a 75 in the first round, which featured one birdie and 13 pars. He moved up two places with a 74 on Saturday, including one birdie and 13 pars. He vaulted another nine places on the final day with a 73, featuring four birdies and nine pars.
Sophomore
Jacob Moody (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) recorded a 224, including a team-best 10 birdies and 26 pars, to finish in a three-way tie for 27th. He joined Olearczyk in the 11-way tie for 31st with a 75, which featured two birdies and 11 pars. He posted a 78 in the second round, including four birdies and four pars, to end the day in a four-way tie for 42nd. He shot an even-par 71, featuring four birdies and 11 pars, to leap up the standings on the final day.
Sophomore
Mac Quinn (Glenwood, N.Y./Canisius HS) was in a three-way tie for 45th following a first-round 77, which featured one birdie and 11 pars. He followed with an 80, including one birdie and 10 pars, to slip to 53rd.
Sophomore
Tyler Stark (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) replaced Quinn for the third round and carded an 80, including 10 pars.
