Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College softball team has returned from a six-game road trip and will once again compete inside the Le Moyne College Softball Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
The Dolphins went 5-1 last week with road conference wins over American International College, Saint Michael's College, and Franklin Pierce University.
Le Moyne scored 17 runs in 14 combined innings to earn two wins over AIC on Thursday, then the Dolphins pitching staff allowed just one run over a combined 14 innings to claim both games of their doubleheader at Saint Michael's on Saturday. The 'Phins dropped the first game of their Sunday doubleheader at FPU, but then Le Moyne became the second team to shutout the dynamic Ravens lineup this season after claiming a 2-0 victory during game two.
The Dolphins will play two games against The Falcons of Bentley University on Tuesday afternoon for the chance to move up the Northeast-10 Conference standings.
The Falcons, at 10-10 against conference competition so far, are sitting in seventh place in the standings, while the 'Phins are close behind with a 9-11 conference resume.
As stated previously, the Dolphins have won five of their last six conference contests, and the Falcons have won four NE10 battles in a row, with doubleheader victories over Southern Connecticut State on Saturday and New Haven on Sunday.
First year outfielder Jordan Krause is hitting .407 on the season so far with 28 runs scored, 13 RBI, seven doubles and four home runs for the Falcons. Graduate third baseman Kaileen Cain has hit a team-high 10 doubles and a team-leading seven home runs along with three triples so far this campaign. Cain has contributed a team-best 30 RBI with 23 runs scored in 34 games played.
Elise Pereira and Dahlia Fink have both recorded at least 10 starts in the circle so far this season for the Falcons. Pereira has pitched eight complete games so far this season and has earned nine pitching decision wins. Through 96.0 innings pitched she has established a 2.70 ERA with 77 strikeouts compared to just 17 walks.
Le Moyne redshirt sophomore right-hander
Laura Bennett (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) has allowed just 21 walks during 125.2 innings in the circle so far this season for the 'Phins, and she has recorded an impressive 167 strikeouts. With just one more strikeout this season, Bennett will be in the top 10 for most strikeouts recorded in a single season by a Le Moyne pitcher. Le Moyne's ace has gone the distance in 13 different contests so far this year, and she has thrown five complete-game shutouts.
Sophomore right-hander
Lindsey Dobbs (Schenectady, N.Y./Colonie) is coming off a solid outing at Franklin Pierce during which she delivered five scoreless innings to help the 'Phins come away with a 2-0 road victory. On the year Dobbs has allowed just five extra base hits in 40.1 innings pitched.
First year right-hander
Julia Panarella (Southington, Conn./Southington) has also been a crucial part of Le Moyne's pitching staff this season. Panarella has earned four pitching decision victories so far during her first collegiate campaign.
Senior catcher
Cassidy Barrett (Apalachin, N.Y./Vestal) has put together a .391 batting average, which is the 4
th best average in the NE10, and a .456 on base percentage through 36 starts as Le Moyne's primary catcher. Barrett has provided 18 RBI and has drawn 13 walks on the year. She has been at the top of Le Moyne's lineup in every single game so far this season and has been a wall in 29 starts behind the plate.
First year
Alyssa Dybacz (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker), who primarily hits in the cleanup spot as Le Moyne's designated player, has emerged as a lethal threat in the middle of the 'Phins lineup during her first year on The Heights. Dybacz is hitting .364 and slugging .515. She has provided a team-best 21 RBI through 34 starts this season and has recorded a team-high seven doubles. Dybacz is also capable of taking a bag here and there, with six stolen bases so far this season.
Le Moyne's leadoff hitter and center fielder,
Isabelle Boudreau (Memramcook, New Brunswick/Mathieu-Martin/Pace) has crossed the plate 29 times this season, which is the third highest total among all players in the Northeast-10 Conference, and she has stolen 10 bases during contests against NE10 opponents, which is the most among any player in the conference. Boudreau has only been caught stealing three times this year, and she has only struck out eight times through 108 at-bats.
Sophomore second baseman
Brooke Nicolaos (Liverpool, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) is hitting .286 with 11 RBI and 19 runs scored so far in her first full campaign with the 'Phins. After starting all 26 games for Le Moyne during a shortened season in 2021 as a true freshman, Nicolaos has found a home at the top of the 'Phins lineup during her sophomore campaign and has been excellent at second base with just three errors in 34 starts so far this year.
Senior right fielder
Victoria Catalano (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) has been hitting the ball well lately for the 'Phins. In Le Monye's last six games, Catalano has recorded five hits and five RBI, including a home run, as the Dolphins have fought their way back into the playoff picture.
First year first baseman
Elaina Kassap (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach) has provided Le Moyne with some big hits during this winning stretch. In her last eight starts Kassap is hitting .260 with three doubles and four RBI.
