SECOND-RANKED MEN’S LACROSSE FALLS TO SIXTH-RANKED ADELPHI, 13-7, IN BATTLE FOR NE10 REGULAR SEASON TITLE

Syracuse, N.Y. – Sixth-ranked Adelphi University used a pair six-goal runs to defeat the second-ranked Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team, 13-7, and claim the Northeast-10 Conference regular season title on Tuesday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.

"Too many mental mistakes today to beat a very good team like Adelphi," said head coach Dan Sheehan. "Regular season is behind us. We will be better tomorrow, no question."

Le Moyne (13-2, 9-1 NE10), which lost by at least six goals for the first time since a 9-3 setback in the NCAA quarterfinals against LIU Post on May 10, 2014, will be the second seed in the upcoming NE10 Championships. The Dolphins will host a semifinal game on Wednesday, May 4 against third-seeded Saint Anselm College or sixth-seeded Southern New Hampshire University. Game time will be announced following the conclusion of the women's lacrosse team's regular season on Saturday.

The Panthers exploded for six goals over the opening 10 minutes of the game. Following empty possessions by each team on their first time with the ball, Jason Rebaudo tallied his 24th goal of the season at the 12:06 mark. He scored again with 8:51 left off a pass from Kyle Steinbach following three Le Moyne turnovers. Joseph Duchnowski followed with his 30th goal of the year 56 seconds later. Following an empty possession by the Dolphins, Brian Harinski netted his 11th goal of the campaign with 6:36 left in the quarter off a dish from Joseph Diggle, who followed with his eighth goal of the year 43 seconds later. Diggle capped the game-opening outburst 50 seconds later following a pass from Steinbach.

Le Moyne countered with a pair of goals in a span of six seconds. Following a turnover by the Panthers, graduate student midfielder Ben McCreary (Cicero, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) tallied his 16th goal of the year at the 4:04 mark off a feed from senior attackman Kevin Sheehan (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee). Senior face-off specialist Sam Kury (Oakdale, Conn./Montville) won the ensuing faceoff, scooped up the loose and raced up field before sending a pass to graduate student attackman Carter Collins (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake/Lindenwood), who fired home his 32nd goal of the year from the left slot.

Adelphi answered back at the 2:09 mark as Michael Paccione posted his ninth goal of the season off a feed from Rebaudo.

The Dolphins closed out he scoring in the quarter with 39 seconds left as graduate student midfielder Evan Kelly (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Aquinas Institute) finished off a pass from redshirt senior midfielder Zach Pierce (Gansevoort, N.Y./Schuylerville/Onondaga C.C.).

Le Moyne scored the first two goals of the second quarter to cut its deficit to two. McCreary tallied the first goal of the quarter at the 13:47 mark off a pass from senior midfielder Colin Sypek (Lake Worth, Fla./American Heritage School (Delray Beach)), who had scooped up a loose ball off a blocked shot. Following a save by graduate student goalkeeper Frank Delia (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker/Onondaga C.C.), graduate student short-stick defensive midfielder Braeden Elmer (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Onondaga C.C.) cleared the ball and fired in his first goal of the season with 11:08 left. The goal would mark the last by the Dolphins until midway through the fourth quarter.

Adelphi rattled off the game's next six goals, split evenly over the second, third and fourth quarters. The Panthers scored their first goal of the quarter at the 4:02 mark, snapping a drought of 13:07, as Duchnowski scored off a pass from Diggle. He scored again 64 seconds later to put his team up 9-5 at halftime.

Steinbach got the Panthers into double digits at the 11:13 mark of the third quarter with his 28th goal of the campaign. He scored again with 3:27 remaining to push the lead back to six.

Eamon Hall scored twice in the fourth quarter to extend Adelphi's lead to a game-high eight. He scored off a feed from Paccione with 11:26 left and then finished off a pass from Duchnowski with 9:48 to go.

Le Moyne scored the last two goals to deliver the final score. Graduate student attackman Devin Andrews (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy/Stony Brook) ended the team's drought of 32 minutes and 50 seconds at the 8:18 mark off a pass from McCreary. Sheehan completed the game's scoring with 2:31 left off a pass from Sypek.
