Philadelphia, P.A. – The Le Moyne College women's tennis team registered a 6-1 victory over the University of the Sciences on Saturday evening in Pennsylvania.
Le Moyne claimed two of the three doubles matches to earn the first point of the day.
The duo of
Birdem Oz (Istanbul, Turkey/Ted Ankara College Foundation HS) and
Francesca Lilliegren (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Colegio Alemán Humboldt Guayaquil) fell to Charlotte Kordonowy and Kirsten Wijnsema in number one doubles by a score of 7-6, 8-6, but Le Moyne's
Fiona Pepper (Challapampa, Peru/Colegio Anglo Americano Prescott) and
Marta Nunez (Rye, N.Y./Antonio Lopez (Spain)) earned a 7-6, 7-5 victory in the second position over Myka Williams and Myra Anwar, and the team of
Brooke Fernandez (Shirley, N.Y./William Floyd) and
Isabella Barona (Manta, Ecuador/Talentos De Manta) claimed a 6-3 win over Han Le and Stephanie Mazurek in the third position doubles match.
Barona defeated Kordonowy 6-2, 7-5 in first position singles, and Oz took down Wijnsema 6-1, 6-1 in the second position.
In number three singles, Nunez beat Williams 6-2, 6-2 and Pepper bested Rosemary Esquivel 6-1, 6-0 in number four singles.
Lilliegren recorded a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Anwar in number five singles, and Mazurek got USciences' only point of the day with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Fernandez in the sixth position singles match.
The Dolphins will play their final game of the spring schedule on Friday, April 15 at Niagara University.
