Garden City, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College baseball split their Sunday afternoon doubleheader against the Panthers of Adelphi University after losing the first two games of the series on Saturday.
Adelphi scored a run during the bottom of the 7
th in game one to earn a 3-2 walk-off victory, then Le Moyne bounced back in game two with a 9-3 win.
Jacob Maser (Chittenango, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy (Syracuse)) started game two on the mound for the 'Phins and allowed just three runs in 6.0 innings of work to earn the win.

Zach Brush (New York Mills, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame) led the Dolphins with six hits in total during the doubleheader, three in each contest.
Wyatt Patchett (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) went 3-5 with two runs batted in and two runs scored during the game two win, while
Derrick Miller (Westernville, N.Y./Rome Free Academy/Hudson Valley C.C.) provided three hits, including a double, an RBI and a run scored.
During game one, Le Moyne struck first right away in the top of the first inning.
Nick Nevins (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) hit a two-out double all the way to the wall in the right-center field gap to give Le Moyne their first base runner of the contest. Le Moyne's four hitter
Ty Syta (Hamburg, N.Y./St. Francis) stepped to the plate next and fell into an 0-2 hole. Syta battled until the count was full at 3-2, then he swung on a pitch and sent it right back up the middle, through the infield and into center field, which allowed Nevins to score from second and put the 'Phins up 1-0.
The Panthers scored in the bottom of the 1
st inning to tie the game.
Joe Vail (Cromwell, Conn./Xavier), who started game one on the mound for Le Moyne, allowed a leadoff single in the bottom of the 2
nd inning, then picked off the runner at first before getting the next two batters out to complete a quick inning.
In the top of the 3
rd, Brush smacked a double into the left-center field gap, then advanced to third on a
Drew Carroll (Clifton Park, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) fly ball, and scored after Nevins hit a single into right-center field to put the Dolphins back on top, 2-1.
Le Moyne put runners on second and third with one out in the top of the 4
th inning, but Adelphi relief pitcher Andrew Williams recorded two consecutive strikeouts to end the inning without allowing a run.
Adelphi tied the game in the bottom of the 5
th on a hit by pitch, followed by a double and a sacrifice fly.
After a wild pitch and a throwing error by the 'Phins with two Adelphi runners on base in the bottom of the 7
th, the Panthers scratched across the game winning run to earn a 3-2 victory during the seven-inning contest.
Adelphi jumped out two a 2-0 lead during the bottom of the 1
st in game two, then the 'Phins had a huge 3
rd inning at the plate.
Miller led off the inning with a single up the middle, the Brush hit a blooper into left-center field, and
Michael Smith (Montebello, N.Y./Suffern) hit a single into left field on a 1-2 count to load the bases with zero outs.
Nevins dug in next and hammered a hard fly ball to the center fielder. The ball was caught, but it was hit deep enough to allow Miller to tag up at third base and score easily.
Drew Fureno (Canajoharie, N.Y./Fort Plain) was hit by a pitch to re-load the bases, then Carroll drew an RBI walk to tie the game at 2-2.
Patchett then hit a hard ground ball in the hole between the shortstop and the third baseman. The Adelphi shortstop did well to keep the ball in the infield, but had no chance to throw out Patchett, giving the freshman an RBI single to give the 'Phins their first lead of the game at 3-2.
Jason Boule (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy (Syracuse)) hit a ball hard to the left side of the infield during the next at-bat. The ball deflected off the glove of the diving third baseman and bounced into shallow left field. Fureno and Carroll both came around to score to make it 5-2 in favor of the Dolphins.
Miller hit an RBI double into right field to give Le Moyne their sixth and final run of the inning.
Patchett hit a one-out double in the top of the 5
th, then came around to score on a Brush infield single to extend the lead to 7-2, but Adelphi got the run back on an Alec Maag solo home run in the bottom of the inning.
Le Moyne added an eighth run on a
Drew Carroll sacrifice fly in the top of the 6
th, then Patchett singled to center field to record his second RBI of the game and make it 9-3.
Adelphi got three runs back in the bottom of the 8
th to trim their deficit to 9-6, then
Jed Boyle (Syracuse, N.Y./Corcoran) shut down the Panthers in the bottom of the 9
th to close the game and secure the win for the 'Phins.
The Le Moyne College baseball team will play their final four-game conference series of the regular season this week against Pace University beginning with a Thursday afternoon doubleheader on Dick Rockwell Field.
