West Chester, Pa. – The Le Moyne College volleyball team fought hard in the second day of the Ram Fest at West Chester University's Hollinger Fieldhouse. The West Chester Golden Rams took all three sets of the first match leaving the Dolphins to a 3-0 loss and later on in the day, the Georgian Court Lions took the win against the Dolphins 3-1.
The Dolphins opened the second day of the Ram Fest to a loss against the Golden Rams, 3-0. Giving it their all, the Dolphins lost the first set 25-17 and the second set 25-11, followed with a 25-10 score in the third set to finish the match.
Fighting hard to stay in play during this first match, sophomore outside hitter
Rose Talty (Clifton Park N.Y./Shenendehowa) registered two kills. Redshirt sophomore defensive specialist
Isabella Leslie (Elmhurst, Ill./IC Catholic Prep) and sophomore outside hitter/defensive specialist
Emily LaRuffa (Rock Hill, N.Y./Monticello) directed the defense with seven digs each followed by senior setter
Margaret King (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) with five digs for the match.
Brynn Dreisbach and Elise Smith led the Golden Rams in kills coming in with 10 each. Jamie Byrne helped guide the offense with 25 assists and Sydney Heffner held the defense strong with 16 digs.
In the second match against Georgian Court University, the Dolphins lost the first set 25-21, but came back in the second set to win 25-20 over the Lions. The Lions then took the third set with a 25-18 score and ultimately ended up winning the match by taking the fourth set with a 25-14 score.
This match, LaRuffa led the Dolphins with eight kills, while senior outside hitter
Madeline Kennedy (
Chelsea, Mich./Chelsea) and Talty tied with seven kills each. King came in with 12 assists and Leslie registered 17 digs.
Nylene Mateo had 18 kills this match for the Lions and Iclar Zayas registered 33 assists, while Jana Borkovic led the team in digs with 17.
As the Ram Fest final day comes to a close, Le Moyne (1-3) will go on to play D'Youville at 5:00pm at Ted Grant Court on Tuesday September 6
th.
