WOMEN'S SOCCER GAME AT DAEMEN ENDS IN 0-0 DRAW

Amherst, N.Y. – On a rainy Tuesday afternoon at Karrer Field, the Le Moyne College women's soccer team recorded a 0-0 draw on the road against a Daemen University side that returned all five of their top scorers from last year's nine-win team.

Le Moyne senior goalkeeper Allison Moreau (Sauquoit, N.Y./Sauquoit Valley) recorded nine saves during the 90 minutes to keep the game scoreless and allow the Dolphins to leave Western New York with a tie.

Moreau recorded three saves in the first half and six in the second. In the 52nd minute a Daemen player was fouled in the box, resulting in a penalty kick for the Wildcats. Moreau came up with a huge save off the PK to keep the match level.

"Every time we step on the field, we want to win the game. We don't play for a draw. Today's outcome is a very good result against a very well coached, organized, and seasoned Daemen University team. The game was played in tough conditions and there were moments where we had to absorb a lot of pressure. Credit to our players who had to come up with numerous plays on both sides of the ball to get a result in today's game. We are very proud of our players who are improving individually and collectively every day.  Today's game is just another positive step in the right direction," said Le Moyne Interim Head Women's Soccer Coach Jaro Zawislan following the game.

Daemen forwards Brooke Amato and Alyssa Diaz each recorded three shots on goal for the Wildcats, while senior midfielder Nicole Grichen put two shots on goal and played the full 90 minutes.

Le Moyne defenders Katelyn Courcy (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy), Rylee Alston (Endwell, N.Y./Maine-Endwell), Lara Lobe (Trebnje, Slovenia/Gymnasium Novo Mesto) and Hildur Unnarsdóttir (Kópavogur, Iceland/Commercial College of Iceland) each played the full 90 minutes as the Dolphins completed a clean sheet in very rainy conditions.

After scoring a goal during her collegiate debut against Chestnut Hill, freshman midfielder Lindsey LeBlanc (Westminster, Mass./St. Bernard's) made her first career start as a Dolphin against the Wildcats. LeBlanc led the Dolphins with two shots on Tuesday, and in the 83rd minute she put a shot on goal that was saved by Daemen goalkeeper Tori DeLappi.

The Dolphins earned a corner kick at the 88:31 mark but were unable to convert in the box.

Moreau's final save of the game came with under a minute left to play. With 0:31 seconds left on the clock Grichen hit a shot towards the lower right side of the net, but Moreau was there to make her ninth save of the match.

Marissa Lisikatos (Cold Spring, N.Y./Haldane) and Magda Aspholm (Östersund, Sweden/Jämtlands Gymnasium Wargentin) both played all 90 minutes as center midfielders for the 'Phins.

First year midfielder Alva Larsson (Malung, Sweden/Lugnetgymnasiet) played 47 minutes as a substitute and recorded a shot for Le Moyne.

The Le Moyne College women's soccer team will be back in action on Sunday, September 4 with a 12:00 p.m. match at Lake Erie College.
