Pleasantville, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's basketball team had five players score in double-digits en route to a 75-66 victory over Pace University in Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday night at the Goldstein Fitness Center.

"It was a good team win!" said head coach Nate Champion '14. "Our guys have worked through a lot of adversity and it was great to see that hard work pay off!"

Fourth-year junior forward Luke Sutherland (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee/Siena/Bryant) and senior forward Xavier Wilson (Spring Valley, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac/The Hotchkiss School/Central Connecticut State) each scored 13 points to lead the Dolphins, while Sutherland added a career-high five blocks and four rebounds and Wilson posted five rebounds and two blocks. Junior guard Darrick Jones Jr. (Richmond, Va./Oak Hill Academy/Towson) and sophomore guard Zy'Ever Wingfield (Richmond, Va./Henrico/Fork Union Military Academy) turned in 12 and 11 points, respectively, off the bench, while Wingfield pulled down six rebounds. First-year graduate student guard Isaiah Salter (Charlotte, N.C./Central Cabarrus/American International/Adelphi) tallied 10 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Brandon Powell led the Setters in the setback with 13 points, all of which came in the second half. Bryan Powell finished with 11 points and five rebounds, while Adonis Williams had a season high-tying 11 points as well.

Le Moyne, which swept the season series over the Setters for the first time since the 2017-18 campaign to even the all-time series between the programs at 33-33, scored the first eight points of the game and 13 of the opening 16. Salter started the scoring with a three-pointer off a pass from first-year graduate student guard Nate McClure (Houston, Texas/Concordia Lutheran/Texas State/State Fair C.C./IUPUI). The duo reversed roles 54 seconds later and then McClure converted a lay-up in transition. After the Setters got on the scoreboard, Sutherland buried a three-pointer and knocked down a jumper in transition with 13:55 remaining.

After a pair of lay-ups by Bryan Powell around another Sutherland jumper, the Dolphins pushed their lead to 12 points with a three-pointer from Jones Jr. and a free throw by Wilson for a 19-7 lead with 9:37 left.

Following six points by each team over the next three minutes, the Setters used a 7-2 spurt to get within seven points for the final time in the game. Justin O'Neill nailed a three-pointer and made a lay-up and then Lyron Bennett hit a jumper in the paint to putt the Setters within 27-20 with 5:19 to go.

Le Moyne answered with 14 of the last 16 points of the half, including the final 11, to take a 41-22 lead into the intermission. McClure and first-year graduate student guard Mike DePersia (Cherry Hill, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial/IUPUI) hit three-pointers around two free throws by Williams, Wilson made a lay-up, DePersia connected on two foul shots, Sutherland converted a lay-up and then Salter completed the half's scoring with a fast-break basket in the paint.

Pace scored seven of the first nine points of the second half to trim its deficit to 43-29 with 18:01 to play. Marc Dadika made two free throws, Bryan Powell converted a lay-up and then Adeleye Oyekanmi buried a three-pointer.

The Dolphins answered with the next five points on three free throws by Sutherland and a Salter jumper to regain their 19-point lead with 16:29 left.

The teams alternated points over the next nine minutes with Le Moyne's lead bouncing between 15 and 20 points and settling at 18, 66-48, with 7:35 remaining.

The Setters tallied 14 of the next 18 points to cut their deficit to single digits with 1:37 remaining. Six players scored in the span, led by four points from Brandon Powell. In the span, the Dolphins committed seven turnovers, went 1-of-6 from the field and 2-of-5 from the foul line.

Le Moyne responded by making four straight at the foul line and 5-of-6 to push its lead back to 13 with 41 seconds to play to put the game away.

Pace finished off the game's scoring with a pair of baskets in the paint in the final 35 seconds.

Le Moyne (10-11, 7-6 NE10), which snapped a four-game losing streak, is back on the road on Saturday at The College of Saint Rose at 3:30 p.m.
