MEN'S BASKETBALL CLOSES OUT CALIFORNIA TRIP AT PACIFIC IN FINAL GAME OF GOLDEN STATE HOOPS JAM

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne men's basketball team concludes its west coast trip Friday night with a bout against the University of the Pacific.
 
Pacific, which plays in the West Coast Conference (WCC), has had an up and down start to 2023-24. The Tigers lost their opener to Sam Houston (57-64) before defeating Pac-12 foe California (87-79). Pacific then lost in big fashion to Nevada (88-39), its largest loss in over 15 years. UOP picked up its second win over Lamar University (77-76) before falling to North Dakota (71-73) on Monday.
 
The Tigers are looking for their first winning season since 2019-20. Pacific went 15-18 last year, including an 8-9 record in non-conference play.
 
Pacific's offense is led by senior Donovan Williams. The guard is averaging nearly 13 points and is shooting over 38% from three. The Illinois native is coming off a 19-point performance against North Dakota where he hit four three-pointers. Williams also leads the team with 4.4 rebounds a game. His seven steals are a team-high as well.
 
Senior Judson Martindale has been another effective option for the Tigers. Martindale has eclipsed 10 points three times this season. He's averaging 14 points over his last two games, including a 15-point effort against Lamar.
 
Guard Moe Odum is the primary playmaker for Pacific. The sophomore leads the team in assists by far. Odum is averaging over five dishes a game. He has three contests with seven or more assists in the young season. The Bronx native also ranks fourth on the team in scoring with 7.4 points per game.
 
Le Moyne enters the contest after securing its first-ever Division I win over a Division I opponent on Tuesday. The Dolphins took down CSUN, 80-70, in the first game of the Golden State Hoops Jam. The victory was Le Moyne's second of the year.
 
Graduate student Luke Sutherland stepped up against the Matadors. The forward dropped 24 points in the win, a season-high. He now leads the team in scoring with 12.7 points a game. Against CSUN, Sutherland hit three from beyond the arc and all nine of his free throws. He added five rebounds and two assists in the victory.
 
Guard Kaiyem Cleary continued his solid start to the year against CSUN. In just 18 minutes, the graduate student had 14 points, five rebounds, and a steal. Cleary hit two threes on the night, keeping his season rate above 33%. The guard has 10+ points on three occasions in 2023-24.
 
Graduate student Nate McClure added 12 points of his own in the historic win. The guard made two from deep against the Matadors, keeping his three-point streak alive. McClure has hit a three in all six of Le Moyne's matchups this season. He is shooting over 42% from beyond the arc. McClure also had four rebounds and two assists against CSUN. He had three steals in the win as well.
 
Mike DePersia was an effective passer in the Dolphins' second victory of the season. The guard had nine assists for Le Moyne, a season-high mark. The graduate student is averaging six assists over his last five contests. DePersia added eight points, four rebounds and three assists on the night.
 
Le Moyne searches for its second ever D-I victory against the University of Pacific. Following the matchup, the Dolphins return home to host Fredonia on Wednesday, November 29.
