Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The Le Moyne College baseball team concluded their weekend trip to The Ripken Experience on Sunday with their third consecutive victory, a 15-0 triumph over Mercy.
The Dolphins previously went 1-1 against the Mavericks during their season-opening weekend at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina a week ago.
Le Moyne scored eight runs in the first two innings on Sunday and cruised to a win with the help of 7.0 scoreless innings from redshirt-sophomore right-hander
Jordan Goldmann (Encinitas Calif./Canyon Crest Academy/Palomar College/Grossmont College), who earned his first win as a Dolphin. Goldmann allowed just four hits, one walk, and struck out five batters.
"Today was an all-around great effort," said Le Moyne head coach
Scott Cassidy '98 after the game. "The offense got us on the board early and often and Jordan was dominant on the mound. It was a great way to end our South Carolina trip," added Cassidy.
In their final three games at the Ripken Experience, a total of 26 innings, the Dolphins allowed a combined two runs.
Sophomore right fielder
Wyatt Patchett (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) recorded the first two-home run game of his career against the Mavericks. Patchett led off the bottom of the third inning with a solo home run over the left field wall, then he lifted a two-run home run to left field in the sixth.
Fifth year shortstop
Nick Nevins (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) recorded his second two-run home run in as many games. Nevins turned on a pitch in the bottom of the second inning and lifted it over the right field wall to extend Le Moyne's lead to 8-0.
Nevins, Patchett and freshman
Brody Keneston (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) each tallied a team-best three RBIs against the Mavs. Keneston provided two hits, two runs scored, and three runs batted in to the Le Moyne cause.
Graduate first baseman
Dewey Roden (Sherrill, N.Y./Vernon-Verona-Sherrill/UMass Lowell) contributed a team-high three hits during the non-conference win with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored.
Freshman right-hander
AJ Petraitis (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) pitched a scoreless top of the eighth for the 'Phins, then sophomore lefty
Jacob Crystal (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) got the final three outs to end the game.
The win over Mercy improves Le Moyne's record to 4-4.
The Dolphins will be in action next on March 4, when they travel to Shippensburg University for a four-game weekend series against the Raiders.
