Shippensburg, PA. – The Le Moyne College baseball team (5-5, 0-0 NE10) split their Saturday afternoon doubleheader against the Shippensburg University Raiders (10-5, 0-0 PSAC) at Fairchild Field in non-conference action.
The two teams will play another doubleheader at Fairchild Field on Sunday afternoon beginning at 12:00 p.m.
The Dolphins claimed a 9-5 win in the first half of Saturday's doubleheader (a seven-inning contest), which was their third straight victory, then Shippensburg staged a ninth-inning comeback in game two (a nine-inning contest) and claimed a 12-11 walk-off win in the tenth.
Junior left-hander
Max Parker (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) started game one on the mound for Le Moyne and pitched 5.1 innings to earn the win. Senior righty
Sam DiGeorge (Canastota, N.Y./Canastota) pitched the final 1.2 innings in relief and allowed just one hit and zero runs to secure the win for the 'Phins.
Le Moyne opened a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning when
Jason Boule (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy (Syracuse)) was hit by a pitch,
Zach Brush (New York Mills, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame) drew a one-out walk, then
Dewey Roden (Sherrill, N.Y./Vernon-Verona-Sherrill/UMass Lowell) smashed a three-run home run over the center field fence.
Shippensburg got a run back in the bottom of the third, but
Lukas Egenhauser (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) launched his first collegiate home run for the 'Phins in the top of the fourth to extend Le Moyne's lead to 4-1.
The Dolphins scored five runs in the top of the fifth to take a 9-1 lead. The Raiders got four runs back in the bottom of the sixth, but DiGeorge pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the seventh to put the game away.
Le Moyne jumped out to a 4-0 lead in game two after
Wyatt Patchett (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) hammered a three-run home run in the top of the first inning, followed by a solo shot from Roden in the second.
A two-RBI single from Roden in the seventh inning extended Le Moyne's lead to 9-4, then the 'Phins added another run after Patchett ripped an RBI single through the left side.
Shippensburg recorded a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh, then
Drew Carroll (Clifton Park, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy (Albany)) drove in two runs in the eighth with an infield single that made it 11-7 in favor of the Dolphins.
Shippensburg scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning via a solo home run, an RBI single, and a two-run home run to send the contest to extra innings.
Le Moyne went down 1-2-3 in the top of the tenth, then Morgan Wyatt ripped an RBI single in the bottom of the inning to earn a walk-off win for the Raiders.
