SHIPPENSBURG CLAIMS TWO ONE-RUN WINS OVER BASEBALL ON SUNDAY

Shippensburg, PA. – The Shippensburg University baseball team claimed two one-run wins over the Le Moyne College Dolphins on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action to complete the weekend series between the two sides. Shippensburg claimed a 4-3 win during the first half of Sunday's doubleheader, then the Raiders earned a 5-4 extra-inning victory in game two. Le Moyne and Shippensburg split the first two games of the series on Saturday.

"While we aren't happy with the outcome of the weekend, we did a lot of things well and several guys had great weekends," said Le Moyne head coach Scott Cassidy '98 after Sunday's doubleheader. "Our offense really kept us in every game. A few rough innings overshadowed a well-played weekend of baseball. We'll learn from it and build on it," Cassidy added.

Graduate right-hander Jacob Maser (Chittenango, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy (Syracuse)) started game one on the mound for the 'Phins and tallied five strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work.

Sophomore lefty Jacob Crystal (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) came in to get the final out of the sixth inning for Le Moyne.

Graduate first baseman Dewey Roden (Sherrill, N.Y./Vernon-Verona-Sherrill/UMass Lowell), who tallied a combined two home runs, five total hits and seven RBIs for the 'Phins during Saturday's doubleheader, provided two more RBIs during game one against the Raiders on Sunday.

Roden drove in Zach Brush (New York Mills, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame) and Drew Carroll (Clifton Park, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy (Albany)) with a base hit through the right side in the top of the third inning.

Freshman Adam Sullivan (Syracuse, N.Y./Marcellus) made his first career start for the 'Phins in game one, then launched his first collegiate home run, a solo shot over the left field wall, in the fifth inning to extend Le Moyne's lead to 3-0.

Shippensburg got one run back in the fifth, then scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-3 lead.

Junior right-hander Austen Labarre entered the game for Shippensburg in the seventh and recorded a 1-2-3 inning to earn the save.

Jordan Goldmann (Encinitas, Calif./Canyon Crest Academy/Palomar College/Grossmont College) pitched the first four innings of game two for Le Moyne. Steven Freer (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) tossed 3.0 innings in relief.  Jed Boyle (Syracuse, N.Y./Corcoran) recorded an out in the eighth inning.

Sophomore outfielder Gio Calamia recorded a walk-off RBI single for the Raiders in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Shippensburg a 5-4 win in game two.

Roden and freshman third baseman Lukas Egenhauser (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) both provided an RBI double during game two, while freshman Brody Keneston (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) recorded a two-RBI pinch-hit single in the seventh inning which tied the game at 4-4 and sent the contest to extra innings.

Egenhauser, who launched his first career home run against the Raiders on Saturday, went 3-3 at the plate during the final game of the series.

The Le Moyne baseball team will be back in action on Tuesday with a doubleheader at Bloomsburg University.
