Rutherford, N.J. – The Le Moyne College baseball team split their Friday non-conference doubleheader at Felician University in the first two games of a four-game weekend series between the Dolphins and the Golden Falcons.
Le Moyne won game one (a nine-inning contest) by a score of 6-5, then the Golden Falcons responded with a 3-1 win during the second half of the doubleheader (a seven-inning contest).
Junior right-hander
Billy Hoffacker (Erial, N.J./Timber Creek/Rowan College of South Jersey) started game one on the mound for the 'Phins and went 5.2 innings before sophomore lefty
Jacob Crystal (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) entered the game and held Felician scoreless for the final 3.1 innings to earn his first victory of the season.
Junior catcher
Brady Fureno (Canajoharie, N.Y./Fort Plain) provided the go-ahead run for Le Moyne in the seventh inning with an RBI bunt single that knocked in
Brody Keneston (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) from third base.
Freshman third baseman
Lukas Egenhauser (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) drove in a team-best two runs during the win with a base hit in the fourth inning, while
Zach Brush (New York Mills, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame) and
Drew Carroll (Clifton Park, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy (Albany)) both tallied an RBI for the 'Phins in the sixth inning. Brush provided a team-high three hits during the road win.
Felician freshman shortstop and leadoff hitter Haiden Walters went 4-5 at the plate with two RBIs during game one.
During Le Moyne's game two setback, freshman right-hander
AJ Petraitis (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) made his first collegiate start on the mound and allowed just one earned run in 4.0 innings pitched with four strikeouts.
Senior righty
Sam DiGeorge (Canastota, N.Y./Canastota) pitched the final 2.0 innings for Le Moyne and gave up one unearned run.
Felician sophomore right-hander Logan Waltz held Le Moyne to one run in 6.0 innings to earn the win in game two, while graduate righty Ralph Gambino pitched a scoreless top of the seventh to earn his second save of the season.
Egenhauser provided Le Moyne's lone RBI during the defeat, driving in
Wyatt Patchett (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) with an infield single during the top of the second inning.
The Le Moyne baseball team will play another doubleheader against Felician on Sunday, with game one scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
