SEVENTH-RANKED WOMEN’S LACROSSE DEFEATS SAINT ROSE, 17-7, FOR SEVENTH STRAIGHT WIN

Albany, N.Y. – Graduate student attacker Jessica Meneilly (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) scored five goals for the third straight game to lead the seventh-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse to a 17-7 victory over The College of Saint Rose on Tuesday afternoon at Sullivan Field.

The Golden Knights opened the game's scoring just 71 seconds into the game as Deanna Ciliento finished off a feed from Lauren Pendergast.

Following almost nine minutes of scoreless play, Le Moyne tallied four goals in four minutes. Junior attacker Sarah Hutchings (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) started the run at the 5:03 mark with her 14th goal of the season. Graduate student attacker Sara Goodwin (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker/Virginia Tech) followed 53 seconds later by converting a free-position shot for her 41st goal of the year. Following a yellow card on the Golden Knights, Meneilly scored in the extra-player situation at the 2:13 mark after taking a feed from graduate student midfielder Katelyn Karleski (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Onondaga C.C.). Hutchings capped the quarter's scoring 68 seconds later.

Goodwin started the scoring in the second quarter just 37 seconds in.

Saint Rose answered with four goals in a span of three minutes to tie the score at five. Ciliento started the spurt by converting a free-position shot at the 12:32 mark for her 19th goal of the season. Daria Bock followed 43 seconds later with her 28th goal of the year. Eliza Barton then scored off a free-position shot with 10:49 left for her 13th goal of the season to force a Le Moyne timeout. Pendergast knotted the score at five with her 43rd goal of the year with 9:35 remaining in the half.

Le Moyne countered with five consecutive goals in a stretch of 2:36 to regain control of the game. Meneilly ignited the run at the 8:50 mark off a pass from Goodwin. Graduate student midfielder Adrianna Nojaim (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) followed 42 seconds later with her 10th goal of the season. Karleski netted her 17th goal of the campaign 1:01 later. Just 18 seconds later, Goodwin found the back of the net on a free-position shot for her 43rd goal of the year. Meneilly concluded the half's scoring 35 seconds later with her 50th goal of the season after taking a feed from junior midfielder Rhonee Shea Pal (Canastota, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) to force a Saint Rose timeout.

The teams traded goals over the opening two and one-half minutes of the third quarter. Meneilly put the Dolphins up 11-5 at the 13:01 mark off a pass from Karleski. Ashley Burns answered for the Golden Knights 30 seconds later with her 19th goal of the season.

The Dolphins tallied the final four goals of the quarter. Off a free-position shot, Hutchings registered her 16th goal of the year with 11:05 left. Pal recorded her eighth goal of the season with 8:16 to go. Hutchings followed 29 seconds later with her fourth goal of the contest. Goodwin scored her fourth goal of the day with 4:32 remaining for a 15-6 lead.

Following almost eight minutes of scoreless play to start the fourth quarter, Meneilly found the back of the net for the 52nd time this season off a pass from senior attacker Gemma Addonizio (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius). Sophomore attacker Grace Detor (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) put the Dolphins up by 11 with 2:22 left with her 16th goal of the year.

Bock completed the scoring in the game with 34 seconds left off a feed from Katy McPeak.

Senior goalkeeper Paige Crandall (Adams, N.Y./West Genesee) made five saves to earn her 39th career win between the pipes, which ties Molly Marbut '15 for the fourth-most in the program's history. Dorothy Gaffney recorded six saves in the loss for the Golden Knights.

Le Moyne (12-2, 8-1 NE10), which has scored at least 17 goals in all four victories over the Golden Knights, wraps up its road schedule on Saturday at 18th-ranked Bentley University at 12:00 p.m. Following Bentley's win over Adelphi on Tuesday, the matchup between the Falcons and Dolphins will be for second place in the NE10 standings.
