MEN’S TENNIS STAYS UNBEATEN IN NE10 ACTION WITH 6-1 VICTORY AT ADELPHI

Garden City, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team remained unbeaten in Northeast-10 Conference action with a 6-1 victory over Adelphi University on Friday afternoon at the Adelphi Tennis Courts.
 
Sophomore Peter Hatton (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt/Club Med Academics/Army West Point) and Manuel Righi (Bologna, Italy/IPC Manfredi - ITC Tanari/Concordia (N.Y.)/Universita di Bologna) opened the doubles competition with a 6-2 win at the first position over Hugo Munoz Reinoso and Gabriel Balestero for their sixth straight win. Thiago Negrao and Thomas Horsley answered back with a 6-4 win over graduate student Tom Jarry (Paris, France/CNED Toulouse/Emmanuel) and Ethan Miller (Swindon, England/Cirencetser Kingshill School) at the second spot to even doubles at one apiece. Seniors Kacper Piekarek (Wroclaw, Poland/Autorskrie Licea Artystyczne Akademickie/Missouri-Kansas City) and Rodrigo Beires (Porto, Portugal/Agrupamento de Escolas Garcia de Orta/Universidade Portucalense) clinched the point with a 6-4 victory at the third position over Marko Jovanovic and Reece Farrow.
 
After dropping the first match of the singles competition, the Dolphins won the final five to deliver the victory. Balestero got the Panthers on the board to even the match at one apiece with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Miller at the third spot. The loss marked the first in NE10 action in Miller's career after winning his first 11 matches. Hatton put the Dolphins in front with a 6-3, 7-5 victory at the first position over Jovanovic for his 10th dual match win of the year. Righi registered his team-best fourth NE10 win, 7-6 (7-3), 6-1, at the second spot over Munoz Reinoso to extend his win streak to 11. Piekarek put the Dolphins up 4-1 with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 victory at the fourth position over Viktor Hockl. Graduate student Alberto Diaz (Tenerife, Spain/Benito Pérez Armas/Nebraska-Kearney/Midwestern State) improved to 4-0 in NE10 play by defeating Farrow at the fifth spot, 6-1, 7-6 (8-6). Beires closed out the victory with a 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 win at the fifth position.
 
Le Moyne (11-2, 4-0 NE10) returns to action on Wednesday at Southern New Hampshire University. A win will clinch the top seed in the NE10 Championships for the third straight year for the Dolphins.
