EIGHTH-RANKED WOMEN’S LACROSSE WINS FOURTH STRAIGHT, 14-10, AT 16TH-RANKED ASSUMPTION

Worcester, Mass. – Graduate student attacker Sara Goodwin (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker/Virginia Tech) scored four goals to lead the eighth-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 14-10 victory at 16th-ranked Assumption University on Saturday afternoon at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium in Northeast-10 Conference.

"Paige's play in the first quarter was essential in helping us get an early lead today," said head coach Liz Beville. "While we have parts of the game we need to work on, I'm pleased with the outcome of today's game. Looking forward to a big week ahead as we face two more ranked opponents."

The Dolphins scored all four of the first quarter's goals. Senior attacker Gemma Addonizio (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) got the scoring started 48 seconds in with her 15th of the season. Graduate student attacker Jessica Meneilly (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) followed at the 11:34 mark with her 35th goal of the season after taking a pass in an extra-player situation from graduate student midfielder Katelyn Karleski (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Onondaga C.C.). Junior midfielder Reilly Geer (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) made it 3-0 with 9:05 left by converting a free-position shot. Graduate student midfielder Adrianna Nojaim (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) completed the quarter's scoring with 2:26 remaining.

Goodwin pushed Le Moyne's lead to 5-0 at the 11:32 mark of the second quarter after collecting a pass in an extra-player situation from Geer.

Jenna Joseph got the Greyhounds on the scoreboard with 7:52 remaining in the half.

The Dolphins answered with three straight goals to take their largest lead of the game. Junior attacker Sarah Hutchings (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) converted a free-position shot with 6:47 left for her 12th goal of the season. Goodwin scored off a free-position shot of her own 60 seconds later. Meneilly then found the back of the net off a free-position shot 36 seconds later.

Assumption cut its deficit to five with the next two goals. Molly Weiand tallied her 13th goal of the season with 3:01 left off a pass from Joseph, who then scored with 1:59 left.

Hutchings converted a free-position shot with 15 seconds left in the half to give the Dolphins a 9-3 lead at the intermission.

Meneilly got the scoring started in the third quarter at the 14:23 mark with her 37th tally of the season. With the goal, Meneilly tied Gold Wave Hall of Fame member Amanda Daniels for 12th on the program's career points list with her 190th.

Assumption answered with the next two goals to get back within five. Claire Desilva posted her fifth goal of the season with 10:26 left off a feed from Joseph, who scored 61 seconds later off a dish from Grace Chicko.

After Addonizio put the Dolphins back up by six with 5:35 left after receiving a pass from Hutchings, the Greyhounds scored the final two goals of the quarter. Katelynn Johnston scored her 10th of the season with 1:13 left and then Joseph scored off a free-position shot with 34 seconds left.

The teams traded goals in the fourth quarter as Le Moyne's lead alternated between four and five goals. Nojaim scored the first of the period at the 14:16 mark off a free-position shot for her eighth goal of the season. Weiand answered back 45 seconds later with her 14th. Goodwin netted her 34th with 10:43 left, but Weiand countered again four and one-half minutes later. Goodwin completed Le Moyne's scoring with 1:19 remaining and Johnston ended the game's scoring with one second to go.

Senior goalkeeper Paige Crandall (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) tallied nine saves, including six in the first quarter, to earn the victory between the pipes. Skylar Troyan turned away 10 shots for the Greyhounds.
