WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS AT SETON HALL IN FINAL NON-CONFERENCE AWAY GAME

South Orange, N.J. – The Seton Hall Pirates bested the Le Moyne women's soccer team by a score of 4-0 on Sunday at SHU's Owen T. Carroll Field in non-conference action.

Big East side Seton Hall improved their record to 4-3-1 with the win, while the Dolphins dropped to 1-4-2.

Seton Hall put away two goals in each half, and starting goalkeeper Morgan Fedosiewich recorded three saves as the Pirates registered their third shutout victory at home so far this season.

Sophomore defender Jasmina Barhoumi (Worms, Germany/Nelly-Sachs-IGS/D'Youville), sophomore midfielder Jadyn Kantak (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker), and sophomore defender/midfielder Lara Lobe (Trebnje, Slovenia/Gymnasium Novo mesto) each recorded a shot on goal for the Dolphins during the setback.

Le Moyne freshman midfielder Liz Ramsey (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) made her collegiate debut during the match.

The Dolphins took two corner kicks and seven free kicks during the second half but were unable to find the back of the net.

The Pirates took a 1-0 in the 20th minute when freshman forward Skyler Matusz received a pass from junior midfielder Natalie Tavana in the right side of the box and hit a right-footed shot on the ground across the goal mouth that clanged off the left post and ricocheted into the net.

SHU doubled their lead less than two minutes later when Tavana took a free kick from just outside Le Moyne's 18-yard box that struck the cross bar and dropped down across the goal line.

The Dolphins created a good chance early in the second half when sophomore midfielder Hermine Hognerud (Oslo, Norway/Eikeli Videregående Skole) stole the ball in Seton Hall's defensive third, then dribbled into the right side of the box and drove a shot that might have been on goal if not for the defensive work of Chiara Pucci, who was positioned in front of her goalkeeper and headed the ball away for a corner kick.

After Le Moyne junior forward Autumn Edwards (Greece, N.Y./Hilton/Monroe) drew a foul in their attacking half with just over 33 minutes remaining in the second half, Barhoumi played a dangerous ball into the box off the set piece, but the Seton Hall defense was able to clear it away from goal.

Tavana scored her second goal of the game, and her Big East-leading seventh goal of the season in the 69th minute when she ran onto a through ball from Sophie Liston and placed a left-footed shot into the bottom right corner of the net.

Le Moyne graduate goalkeeper Allison Moreau (Sauquoit, N.Y./Sauquoit Valley) made six saves during the game, the last of which came on a diving effort off a hard-hit shot from SHU senior midfielder Riley Balser with just under seven minutes remaining in the second half.

In the 88th minute, Balser ran onto a pass from Liston and took a right-footed shot from inside the box that struck the upper part of the right post and flew into the left side of the net to make it 4-0 in favor of the Pirates.

Le Moyne will play their final non-conference game of the season on Wednesday at home against Canisius College, then they will begin Northeast Conference play on Sunday at home against Howard University.
