VOLLEYBALL IS DEFEATED BY STONEHILL COLLEGE

Easton, MA  – The Le Moyne College volleyball team traveled to Massachusetts today to start off their three game weekend on the road, with their first match against Stonehill College. Today's game marked the Dolphin's first conference game of the season, and also their first conference game since entering the NEC this year.

"Tonight was our best match offensively so far this season." said head coach Susan Kim. "Unfortunately, our defense at the net and service errors cost us the match. Our energy was really high going into the match but now we just have to learn how to channel that energy to the right level and maintain that throughout the match. There's definitely some improvement in areas you won't see in a box score. Can't wait to see what tomorrow's match will bring."

In the first set, the Skyhawks went on a five-point streak to gain the lead over the Dolphin's taking the set 25-12. In the second set, senior outside hitter Madison Dembroski (Plattekill, N.Y. / Wallkill) registered 6 kills leading the Dolphin's to a set score of 25-23. In the third and fourth set, the Skyhawks had a combined total of 20 kills with set scores of 25-16, and 25-19 to win the match 3-1.

For the Dolphins, Dembroski led the team with 14 kills, eight digs, and one assist. Sophomore middle hitter Kayla Anstett (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) registered 13 kills, and junior outside hitter Emily La Ruffa (Rock Hill, N.Y. / Monticello) had six kills, and nine digs. Sophomore setter Haley Gerken (Buffalo, N.Y. / Frontier) guided the offense with 29 assists, and junior libero/DS Ella Katz (Burnt Hills, N.Y. / Burnt Hills - Ballston Lake) had one assist, and 18 digs.

For the Skyhawks, Emma Graves registered nine kills. Lauren McCloskey had eight kills. Lauren MacKellar had eight kills. Delany Mihelich had had 19 assists. Amaya Parnell had nine assists. Maddie Schamaun had seven assists. Georgia Murphy had 18 digs. Kristen DeLorenzo had 12 digs, and Mia Berardino had seven digs.

The Dolphins will stay in Massachusetts tomorrow, but will travel to North Andover, Mass. to compete against Merrimack College at 4:00pm at Hammel Court for their second conference match of the season.
