Box Score 3 Cambridge, Mass. – Senior
Peter Hatton (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt/Club Med Academics/Army West Point) registered a singles and doubles victory to lead the Le Moyne College men's tennis team at the ITA New England Regional Thursday through Saturday at Harvard University's Beren Tennis Center.
In the singles main draw, Hatton defeated Fairfield's Kacper Krolikowski in the first round, 6-1, 6-4. He fell to Cornell's Petar Teodorovic in the round of 32, 6-0, 6-4.
In the singles qualifying draw, freshman
Luke Hoyland (Sheffield, England/Birkdale School) went 1-1. In the first round, he was edged by Bryant's Daniel Baquero, 3-6, 6-2, 10-5. In a consolation match, he knocked off Niagara's Vid Maric, 7-5, 5-7, 10-3.
In the first round of the qualifying draw, Denny Bao of Dartmouth defeated graduate student
Bernardo Teixeira (Porto, Portugal/Escola Secundária Fontes Pereira de Mel/University of Porto/Delaware), 7-6 (11-9), 6-4.
In the doubles competition, Hatton and Teixeira went 1-1 as did Hoyland and classmate
Callum Matthew (Dorset, England). Hatton and Teixeira opened with an 8-5 win over Marist's Jose Catala and Gregor Heinemann. They then fell to Brown's Noah Hernandez and Lukas Phimvongsa, 8-5.
Hoyland and Matthew registered an 8-6 victory over Boston College's James Cockrell and Lukas Rais in the first round. They dropped an 8-2 decision in the second round to Dartmouth's Miles Groom and Waleed Qadir.
The Dolphins return to action with the start of their dual meet schedule on Saturday, January 25 at Dartmouth College.
