Chicago, I.L. – The Le Moyne College volleyball team wrapped up their season slate against Chicago State University on Saturday afternoon. The Dolphins fell in three sets; 25-15, 25-22, 25-17, and now sit at 2-16 overall and 1-5 in conference play this season.
For Le Moyne, sophomore opposite hitter Branwyn Lupton (Napanee, O.N. / Napanee District Secondary School) led with six kills while freshman outside hitter Jordyn Hamlin (Manahawkin, N.J. / Southern Regional) tallied another five in the match. Also on offense, junior setter Haley Gerken (Buffalo, N.Y. / Frontier) and freshman setter Skylar Jehlen (Rochester, N.Y. / Churchville-Chili) tied for the lead in assists with seven while sophomore libero/DS Haley Buescher (Toledo, O.H. / St. Ursula Academy) recorded a team-high three service aces. Defensively, Buescher led with nine digs with freshman middle hitter Anaya Rawlinson (Whitby, O.N. / Sinclair Secondary School) racking up one block solo and three block assists.
For Chicago State, Julieta Sandez recorded 10 kills with Karly Klaer following right behind with nine. Wiktoria Zagummy put up a game-high 27 assists while Berenice Almeyda tallied four service aces against the Dolphins. On defense, Andrea Calderon led with 12 digs and both Klaer and Sandez led with one block assist and block solo each.
The Dolphins will stay on the road to take on NEC opponent LIU in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Friday, Oct. 25 at 6:00 P.M.
